SECOND VISIT UPDATE: 7/10/18 Finally the Gyro Shack delivered A great sandwich! After numerous cell phone promptings, I connected with a manager, Theresa who came out and rectified the previous experience described at the bottom.
This time, I dined inside and brought a guest. To make this a fair "re-do", I ordered the exact same item I had such a poor experience with before. Making this an Apples to Apples test.
This time the sandwich was full, packed with toppings, and a full 180° turn from where we were before. Nice recovery - thanks! Now to sustain it will be the real tell. Will this sandwich be the same the next time I come in?
We tried the new pita fries and although good, they were kind of underwhelming and blah.
Overall - a much improved experience...but as an owner/operator/consultant...there are still some glaring opportunities.
Opportunities - Staffing. There were 7 staff on plus Theresa and about 3 were productive as we watched. The young guy flexing his muscles over and over for the women working is... A- a possible liability and not productive. B- sincerely needing to be given a job routine and task summary to keep him busy. (There were 5 guests in the building.)
No atmosphere. How about some music? The place is a little stark and atmosphere barren. Background Greek music is an immediate pick me up and some plants, even if fake, could add some eye appeal.
Attention to detail. My order needed to be corrected yet again before it was sent to the cooks. This was caught as we reviewed it. I wasn't the only special order as the next guests had special requests also. From the look of the other Google reviews - your guests are mapping out the opportunities for the success you could be celebrating - you just have to listen.
The Pita "Fries". As mentioned are kind of lack luster. Try some cheese, meat, and veggie toppings and make another menu line item and call them Loaded Greek Nachos. Add a couple pepperoncini for garnish and I bet they sell 5 to 1 over the fries. Calling them fries - which they really aren't - neither fried or even crispy is kind of a let down. The sprinkle of feta doesn't say 'wow'.
The New Service Bar. I gave Theresa several food ingredient/menu options for keeping costs in check and some super easy ideas for flexible, sharp looking, signage for the upcoming food bar server. Communication from the top down to Theresa is scarce regarding the new food bar and the plan to open it this weekend, is in her mind, unplanned or not lucent.
Seth - don't hesitate to get together to discuss some low cost enhancements and my observations. Gus or Theresa has my cell number.

FIRST VISIT EXPERIENCE: 6/11/18
Not good. Small portions and dashed expectations. THIS HAS BEEN...
Read moreBeen going here a while now as it's close to me so an ideal dinner place. Unfortunately the last 2 experiences I've had here have been less than desirable to put it modestly. Experience 1: ordered a crispy chicken gyro. Got grilled chicken and was like slop wrapped up in bread. I think, maybe just a busy night, try again another time. Today, experience 2: i ordered again another crispy chicken. Got home with gyro meat and the grilled onions i paid extra for still fresh and not cooked at all. Furthermore I went in to get it replaced this time with the correct items, but it's just made poorly. Some items still cold and just thrown together in a quick manner, I've honestly lost my appetite from this and now its a $12 gyro I have to force myself to eat so as to not waste my momey. Other reviewers have commented on the poor atmosphere and I have to agree. I too have seen them "closed and locked up" before they were actually closed (chairs flipped, doors actually locked during business hours). This place was decent just a few months ago but it's steadily getting worse and upper management needs to intervene. At this point it's just getting sad and embarrassing. I will not be spending...
Read moreThe Colossal Salad is one of my favorite. I frequent the location on Overland the most, but also go to the one on Emerald. The salad is usually very nice and full and delicious. I went into today and they changed packaging. Which normally wouldn't bother me, however, they put the salad in a very small box which I have a few issues with. 1. this box has got to be a smaller portion of lettuce, the "topping" measurements may not have changed but the lettuce amount did. 2. This box is too small to actually eat the salad in. To be able to mix the dressing and cut the large pieces of lettuce, meat, and cucumbers you have to dump it out. 3. I paid just over $10 for this salad, like I said it is one of my favorites. The employee I spoke to on the phone about this said you changed packaging because the usual salad containers are plastic and you guys want to be more enviromentally friendly. Maybe use the same type of packaging as the new one, but just go up a size so you can mix and cut up the salad and still be able to eat it out of the same container.
I would've loved to recognize how friendly the employees were, but I also did not get a receipt...
