AMAZING beer and DELICIOUS food - me (vegan) and my non-vegan friend were both DELIGHTED with our entire experience. Beer first: I SOOO appreciate when a brewery has darker beers on tap even in the summer when IPA & hoppy varieties take over a lot of places. Morning in the Mountains is an OUTSTANDING imperial and I can't wait to have it again. My friend got had 2 different IPAs and enjoyed them both. How fantastic that we - who have very different tastes - could both have what we enjoy most. Now for the FOOD! I'm vegan & had heard Lost Grove had some good options. I always review a menu before going in so I can plan if there isn't a good vegan option. The officially designated vegan options were too light for me to have for dinner b/c I'm training for a marathon. I called right after they opened, knowing it wouldn't be too busy yet, to ask if the vegetarian Lion's Mane sandwich could be prepared vegan. The staff member I spoke with (I think his name is Hutch) asked the chef (Mikey) and I could hear the response - I felt super confident about my vegan option. This conversation alone would have led me to write a good review, and then my in-restaurant experience was even better. Even though it was really busy when my friend and I were there, when my server (Jackson I think) went back to the kitchen with the order, he returned with Hutch to make sure I was okay with some vegan modifications they wanted to make to the Lion's Mane sandwich to make it awesome. This was so thoughtful, and let's just say there wasn't a crumb left on my plate. I encouraged them to add that variation to their next menu update to have an easy-to-order vegan option. The service was simply outstanding. And my non-vegan friend had the chorizo & tots - she loved it. A vegan option would certainly get my attention on a night where I'm craving a comfort food. And it's the biggest appetizer I've ever seen! When I have an amazing experience at a restaurant, I'm always curious about low reviews and read them to see what was so different. For anyone still reading my lengthy review who is concerned about a few 1s and 2s, I'd say don't worry about them! Those reviews seem more like a miss-match between expectations and what Lost Grove has to offer (i.e. missing the restaurant that used to be there). I'm looking forward to returning and enjoying another great...

Update on my old review. Been coming here for a while now, beer is always good, bartenders are fantastic, and there’s always good chatter going on at the bar amongst strangers, which I love. Haven’t given the food another chance yet, still highly suspicious of that chicken sandwich. Moving from 3 to 4 stars. Old review: Love the patio, the beer was great and the Bahn Mi was very good. Our server was really nice too. Crispy chicken sandwich on the other hand was very sad. Sad, sad chicken sandwich. Chicken took up barely half of the bun, it was more of a slider portion on a sandwich bun, and somewhat burnt. Tater tot side came out a full 15 mins before the food (but were fantastic). Lots of servers walking around with beers and couldn't figure out where they belonged. Our food went to another table first. First beer took a long time to come out, second and third were fine. I'm sure they'll figure out the table numbers and dial in the service, but wow that chicken sandwich really needs some love, or just pull it from the menu.

Update: I tried the chicken sandwich again and it was pretty good this time. Not the sad sandwich it was around opening. The drunken noodles are really really good. Upgrading from...

We came here yesterday (Tuesday) for the first time. We were checking out Hyde Park. We're recent transplants to the greater Boise area.

It was raining, so we sat indoors. In retrospect, the only way to go here is the outdoor seating. Indoors, it is small and stark. Plain tables, minimal decor, not much ambience.

I had the First Sight IPA, citrusy and flavorful. I enjoyed it. My wife had the burger. She asked for no cheese, but it came with just a bun and patty. No lettuce, tomato, or onion. I had the Original grilled chicken sandwich. It had a nice aioli and was on a brioche bun, but nothing else on it and a rather small sandwich. Both came with a small order of fries. I liked the fries. They were crispy. However, for the money ($15) I would have liked lettuce, tomato, and onion on both the burger and sandwich, and a maybe some cheese on mine. I also would have liked more fries, though I certainly didn't need them :-)

Our young female server was nice and did a great job.

Again, sitting outside on the patio on a nice day would make the Lost Grove experience better. If we come again, I would try one of their...

I'm pretty sure I got sick from getting caught in that crazy down pour .... Was it worth it? Heck yes. I'd do it all over again. Let's start off with the drinks. Amazing options they had szechuan cocktails that I found out that they were getting rid of. So I had about four. They are edgy while still trying to be respectful to pallets that aren't ready for fun out of the ordinary concoctions. Since we were trying to wait out the down pour which lasted one hour. We ended up ordering food (which was not our plan) but I'm so thankful that we did. We got the mushroom beet pot stickers which were amazing. I had the lion's mane sandwich which I could eat everyday for the rest of my life and still be so happy. And my partner got the pozole ramen. Which could easily feed two people. What's going on in the kitchen is what Hyde Park has been missing. I'm so happy it's a five minute walk from our place. Definitely my new favorite patio.

I was so excited to see a new place in Hyde Park but was a little disappointed. We tried a few different menu items and all were meh at best. The chicken skewers were so salty none of us could finish them (and I love salt). The side for every entree is pork rinds. The cocktails all sounded very interesting and creative but I was the only one who enjoyed mine out of the three of us. However, they all looked beautiful! I especially loved the cat glass. Service was pretty poor. Didn’t have anyone check in on us after we got our food and drinks. Still worth going just for the patio and the beer!
