Scooter's Coffee — Restaurant in Independence

I love the Scooters I've had in Nebr, Iowa, and So Dak. Sometimes the coffee is a bit strong but always smooth and drinkable.

Today we were driving through Independence KS and stopped for coffee. We ordered a 16 oz Breve and a 20 oz Mocha. The girl handed us the Breve saying "here's your small Breve." My husband asked if she was sure that was a 16 oz and she said yes and then handed him a medium Mocha.

Hubby drank his Mocha but kept saying it tastes awful. I took the lid off of my coffee to add a pinch of salt and it wasn't even full. Maybe 1 1/2" down from the top. I knew this wouldn't be to my liking so we stopped and got some milk to add to this 8-10 oz of supposed breve.

I finally got to taste my coffee. It was the worst excuse for coffee I've ever tasted! I couldn't detect any coffee flavor whatsoever, just the nastiest, bitter taste I've ever experienced.

If we travel through again you can bet we'll avoid...

Ordered a medium “Cold brew & cream” and was handed this blended drink. I said I did not order a blended cold brew and repeated the order. I was then told by the staff that is the order for a blended drink. They said I needed to say “cold brew with half-and-half” to get the drink I wanted. So, at this location, if you ask for a “cold brew & cream,” it automatically makes it a blended drink. Interestingly enough, if you Google “Scooters Cold brew & cream” or look at their menu on X (Twitter), the official images direct from the company show cold brew with some cream added and some ice. Nothing blended.

Wife’s decaf order was also very much NOT decaf as evidenced by her adverse reaction to the caffeine. We asked TWICE to make sure her drink was decaf as she has a caffeine...

I went there twice.... Both times I asked for vanilla creamer in my tea... The first time they forgot, no big deal, whatever.... The second time I specifically asked her "did you remember to add the vanilla creamer?" she said YES.... I got my 3 kids to the park to eat their dinner. We sat down and I realized she DID NOT ADD CREAMER... I also got me and my friend an everything bagel.. The bagels were both very tough and hard to eat... I don't go to scooters often at all... I highly recommend skipping this location in Independence and going to the one in Coffeyville where they're super friendly and will get your order right every time... Independence location wasn't friendly and they don't care at all about customer...
