The best food you can get are in small owned businesses. I'm from Reading PA which is about an hour from Philly. I grew up with great hispanic food, Jamaican food, Chinese, Greek, soul foods, and definitely Italian. We had small sandwich shops all around the city where you could get a great Cheese Steak, burgers, subs, chicken.. u name it. Great Diners for breakfast everywhere that were very home feeling. The best food was from the small places! Driving around in this new area im in North Carolina, me an my son were driving an seen a pizza shop that said New York pizza. I told my son, that is a small shack pizza spot, the building looked greasy an the signs were a little old. I said to my son.. THESE ARE THE PLACES THAT HAVE GREAT FOOD! We weren't ready for pizza so we kept driving. Then we drove by a small building that said OMEGA Coney Island restaurant. We are from the east coast... the name an the small business building was a GEM. LOL We were looking for breakfast and I said.. WE ARE TRYING THIS PLACE FOR SURE! Ahhhhhhh walked in and it reminded me of my hometown area. A real relaxed breakfast spot. The smell of coffee an that hone feeling. I knew then we were gonna get that good filling breakfast. The waitresses are very down to earth an hard workin. Plenty of tables an booths to eat. I ordered French toast special.. scrambled eggs, bacon an hash browns. Hit the spot! We left full. One of my favorite places to come for breakfast. Not only is their breakfast filling with great portions.. THEIR LUNCH IS GREAT! That get your money's worth REAL FOOD. I would recommend this place to anyone. One thing I would like to see on the menu that would kill here for breakfast is.. HOME FRIES. Some good sturdy potatoes would level their breakfast up. Lots of places in NC do not have breakfast potatoes just hash browns.
Overall.. Great place for...
Read moreI have eaten breakfast lunch and dinner at Omega Coney Island restaurant and every time it has been delicious. I have read some of the other reviews so I wanted to wait until I had tried it a few times before I made my final decision and I have to say I love this restaurant. The first time I went was for lunch and I had a club and french fries which I know seems pretty simple but a lot of places can't seem to do it well however the Omega club was yummy and their fries are scrumptious. The second time I went I had the most amazing Italian wedding soup it was the best soup that I have ever eaten you could tell it was homemade and it was made by somebody who knew exactly what they were doing I could go there every day and just get this soup. I also had a Mushroom Swiss burger and french fries the hamburger was cooked to perfection juicy and exquisite, the french fries perfect as usual. The Omega offers breakfast all day everyday so this evening I decided to try breakfast for dinner I had the western omelette hash browns and grits with cheese all were perfectly cooked and absolutely delightful. I also had the homemade vegetable soup and again whoever makes this soup is a master it was absolutely divine. I know when you're driving past the Omega it's not much to look at and when you go inside it's not really fancy but the food is prepared fresh the menu is extensive from at least 5 different kinds of hot dogs, Gyros, pitas, hamburgers, sandwiches, Patty melts, salads, full dinner plates and every kind of breakfast items you could ask for it really is worth a try in fact several. The the service is friendly OnPoint if you need anything they're quick to get it and make sure you have everything you need to make your dining experience perfect. I highly recommend that you try this restaurant as soon as possible side note they have delicious...
Read moreRe-review: since everyone I know has told me I'm crazy to not like omega coney island, I finally gave it another chance to see if anything has changed, went for a late breakfest around 1030am, the place still smelled of burnt oil but not as horrible as last time, the place was at about 50% capacity from the amount of empty tables, we were seated right away again, the table had not been cleaned and it wasnt until we told the person who seated us that she even realized the table was dirty, the waitress we had was nice, I didnt even risk the coffie so I just ordered a water and chicken and waffles again, the person I was with ordered an omelet and if it were not for the good conversation I had with them it would have been a long 45mins before the food came out, during our entire visit the waitress only came by our table a total of 3 times... taking our order... giving us our order... and giving us the check. In the end after giving it 9months and another chance I still keep my 1 star and will not be returning. Below is my first review:
Was seated right away but that's where the good ended. Place smelled heavily of burnt oil. the coffee tasted like it was old and burnt, no amount of cream and sugar could save it.
After ordering our food we didn't see the waitress until our food came out almost an hour later and all we ordered was 2 chicken and waffles. Food was not to bad, but not 1hr wait good.
For the price, the lack of service and horrible wait times for an almost empty restaurant ( I feel bad for anyone dinning in on a busy night). I will not...
