Benjamin's — Restaurant in Indiana

We went to Benjamin's to celebrate my birthday. My first time there. What a great place. The host seated us after a few minutes, we had reservations, and they were very busy. He also took our drink order, since they were so busy and told us our waitress would be with us shortly. We placed our order, and after several minutes we got our salads. After a while she came back to get our empty salad plates and told us our meals would be out shortly. Then later she came back to tell us a large party came in and it would be a few more minutes. Two ladies came in after us and got appetizers and their meals before we did. We did not get our meals till an hour and a half after we got there before 7pm. There was another waitress in our room ( she had reddish color braided hair) and was very attentive to her 3 tables in our room. I actually complimented her on her service to her customers. She noticed us not being too pleased and told us (Kaitlyn) just went to get our meals. When she came back I mentioned to her that 2 tables came in after us one with 6 people on the outside and the 2 women, she offered no explanation, just sorry. She never came back to fill our water glasses either. Asked if we wanted desert, which I would have like to, but, I was afraid how long that would take. Not a fan of imitation crab so I had to send the crab ravioli back. However the cocktails were great and the samon my friend ordered was great as well. The parogies were phenomenal. However, I didn't appreciate the rude waitress which alightly soured a night of celebration. She had a extremely nasty attitude which was evident the minute she began waiting on us. She was very inpatient when we were ordering. I could hear her in the kitchen talking badly about me after I politely sent back the crab ravioli and ordered a second helping of the parogies. I'm not sure if she didn't like the that she was waiting on people of color. However it does seem to be a valid conclusion when taking into account the polite and friendly service she provided to other surrounding tables who were not people of color. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful! We were located in near the back patio/bar area and the atmosphere was so cozy. Our waitress was very courteous and explained the menu options well. I recommend the maple bourbon salmon, I've never had anything like it before! Such an explosion of flavor in each bite. The downside of the experience was the impromptu meetings between the other waitresses and bartender. We ordered drinks twice and were the only two in the patio area but our drinks sat beside the bartender for 10+ minutes within eyesight of us, no attempts by the staff to bring to us. They appeared to be pretty deeply involved in whatever gossip was going on at the bar. Even the woman taking reservations was complaining very loudly. We had to ask both times for her to bring them over and she was short and rude with us each time. I'd love to go back if I knew we would be treated better, especially when looking...
