TLDR : Drive through person has ruined this McDonalds for me after failing 5 out of 6 visits to get one standard menu sandwich correct while being rude 4 out of the 6 times. My final attempt today I literally enunciated each word for the ONE sandwich (this is a NORMAL menu item with NO substitutions or requests!) I wanted : DOUBLE…QUARTER…POUNDER…WITH CHEESE… DELUXE. That's it, no combo, no drink, no special requests. no kidding. I was rudely told that I was wrong after trying 3 times and drove off in frustration.
Full review: I am not proud to say that I frequent fast food places a couple days week and have done so for over 20 years so I know how things can vary. This is the first one star review I've ever given ANY restaurant. This McDonalds honestly used to be worth 3 stars compared to other McD's and really should be 3 stars BUT I have to share my experience and frustration with my last 6 drive through experiences trying to place a simple order for 1 burger each time.
First my obsession: Ever since McDonalds introduced the never-frozen, fresh quarter pounder patties I was hooked. Finally a great quality, juicy and tasty drive through burger for $5 that was consistent and reliable. I went often for at least a year. Then one day the line was too long and I was pressed for time so I went to BK and had a whopper. The BK meat was just okay (nowhere near as good as McD's) but the fresh onions, tomato and mayo made up for it. So then I started going to BK more often. If only McD's made their awesome quarter pounder with BK's fresh toppings I'd find my fast food burger unicorn. Lo and Behold...It finally became reality in the newish glorious "Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese DELUXE".
The Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese Deluxe has the fresh, juicy, delicious thick beef patties WITH the fresh toppings I wanted from BK all in one. Finally, finally!! To say that I was very pleased would be an understatement. I told friends. I told family. I told co workers. It is truly awesome.
Then the Portage Road location got a new drive through person. This person should NOT be running a drive through. I get that its not a fun job. Check out my other reviews... you'll see that I'm not nitpicky or a complainer and will happily take some rudeness and even a mistake or three. However...Here are my attempts numbered 1-6 to order this simple unicorn of a burger (which is standard menu item) Keep in mind that I am a frequent fast food drive through person so I don’t’ hem-and-haw and I enunciate each word loudly and VERY clearly:
Attempt 1: Was told this sandwich did not exist as a double. (Remember I just ordered this same thing last week). I had to ask her to “add a patty” to the single after she told me she had to check with a manager first?? She was nice THIS time and apologized. This politeness would not occur again... Attempt 2: Order was put through as a single again. My bad for not checking the order screen even though I very clearly said DOUBLE. Attempt 3: Order was put through without the Deluxe (no toppings) even though I very clearly said DELUXE at the end. I cannot stress how careful I was in pronouncing each word clearly. Attempt 4: Not sure what happened this time but again I didn’t get a Deluxe, it was missing onions and the other Deluxe toppings. Attempt 5: SUCCESS!!!! The perfect burger and NO problems! Attempt 6: and this is where things went really south. After correcting the lack of “deluxe” yet AGAIN when ordering despite clearly enunciating it I was told “YOU DIDN’T say that”. Okay…look… I wasn’t distracted. In fact I actually expected a mess up so I was super duper DUPER clear. Then to top it all off, when she corrects my order, it gets put in as a SINGLE. I attempt to correct her a AGAIN to make it a double and I get zero response for a long few minutes. I give up in frustration and drive off.
Woth this McD's HOLY COW you have to really check the order screen THOROUGHLY when ordering from this...
Read moreMy husband, my kids and I are doing yard work today, and I wanted to get something cheap and fast for the kids, since they're doing such a great job on the yard. I went to the McDonald's on 933, parked in the number for mobile order pickup spot. All of a sudden like a minute later, their mobile order sign falls on my car. One of "managers" came out to tak pictures, but proceeded to tell me they were looking on the cameras bcuz I pushed it over. Thanks goodness I was on the 📱 with dispatch(which is recorded and she notated) that he said that I did this. Photos show, that whatever employee did it, decided to put a brick UNDER the base of the sign(which didn't have any sand no nothing in the base), so the wind blew it over on my car. I got a refund bcuz my food would have been cold by the time I got home. I sat there for a while for the police to show, since the employee wants to lie on me, police said it would be taken care of and the manager over the store would come out and talk to me. Which she did not. I told the police to go ahead n go, bcuz they even said she was gonna come out and talk to me. Waited about 20more mins, called non emergency to have someone come back out so I didn't have to go back into that establishment where they have empathy for employees that LIE. Finally another 15mins pass. Military cop came, got her, he didnt help, thankfully another county officer came to help, bcuz I was calm the whole time n the military office decided to get loud with me for absolutely no reason. I told the county officer that al I wanted was an apology, and for some type of disciplinary action would be taken, but the manager said she would NOT do anything about th employee 🤷♀️ so now I'm going to get the transcripts from South Bend Police and will be submitting them to corporate. Why would you want a manager hiring or keeping employees who lie??? And ON DOCUMENTATION! She kept telling me that insurance would handle him ... What's insurance going to do? It's scratches! I wanted an apology NOT food or money and I was met with no empathy from anyone that interacted with me at that establishment. Yes, I got loud with the employee, but don't say I did something, when I was CLEARLY IN MY CAR WHEN IT HAPPENED!!! THANK GOD FOR SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS!!!!!!!!...

I went through the drive thru with my kids one is autistic and another has ADHD...can be very hard sometimes to deal with when I take them all the in... so for me the drive thru is the best choice. I order my items had to repeat them several times and the girl have me my total. She rang my up for regular price, do i reminded her about them being $1.99. I got up to the first window and had to reorder everything two more times. I had already sent about 15 mins trying to get my order right and the girl said to me can't you just come in. at this time I was really upset we where going to be late for my daughter's softball game... my kids are hungry and you are the one messing up on my order and you want me to come in. I was going to leave but didn't have time to go anywhere else do i did end up going in with my kids. I explain my situation to the cashier who was very nice and told me she was sorry for everything that was happening then I heard the manager say this lady wants to order these kids mealsand put us so far behind and then leave. I turned to her and said I didn't leave I am right here and don't appreciate you talking about me. I asked for another manager and he came to talk to me I told him everything and I just get an I'm sorry about it and she was just stating how far behind she was. Great customers...
