Update: After going back a few times to really test the place out, I have had some better food experiences. Their vegan breakfast burrito reminded me, in the best way, of something I would get at Laughing Planet in Bloomington. It was great! It seems they have varied their options a bit since I was in previous.
I think my opinion on the coffee still stands, but I am way more likely to come back again in the future, and will probably stick with something small to go with food.
The staff is passionate and friendly, which adds to the beautiful interior!
OG review:
Walking in the door, the space is beautiful. I want those velvet orange chairs for myself! The art was delightful. I can tell they out a lot of thought in how their space looked.
Their coffee was just okay for a small coffee shop. It was drinkable, but not stellar. I'll definitely travel a bit further for a cuppa.
The killer for me is the food. The vegan options were mostly bread, which left me wanting. The parfait was incredibly crumbly, and the fruit tasted like a packaged strawberry pie filling. My partner tried a breakfast burrito and everything bagel croissant The burrito was soggy, and the vegetables tasted frozen or old. The croissant was so salty that he...
Read moreWhat can I say about this delightful spot?! How about.....EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS! Not your average everyday coffee shop and eatery, the gals behind this SoBro gem put every effort into creating a menu that's appealing not only to those of us with crazy sweet tooths, but also catering to their vegetarian clients with delicious sandwiches and wraps for both breakfast and mid-day snacking! And about their sweets?! Refreshingly never TOO sweet!! An ever rotating cast of characters that grace the pastry counter means you'll almost always have a unique and creative option to start your day. The coffee options are perfectly poured to keep you buzzin and feeling golden all day! Delicious Julian coffee and even a nitro option for their cold brew! Heaven! The seasonal specialty flavors follow the same philosophy of "not too sweet" which I love. The flavor profiles aren't trying to cover up the coffee taste, but enhance it! Opening your doors during a pandemic could NOT have been a bigger challenge but the Gold Leaf crew has done it with gusto and grace! We are so lucky to have them in the neighborhood. Now everyone, go there now and keep their...
Read moreI've been here 3 times now, and each time has been fantastic! I'm very excited to have a place like this in the neighborhood. Restaurants in the Keystone/46th area seem to have a good grasp of what the neighborhood needs, and this is no exception. The menu is affordable, and they have substantial "snack" options in the $2-4 range. The space looks excellent both for hanging out with friends and for getting some work done. They clearly put extra work into creating an outdoor seating area to handle COVID.
So far I haven't tried any of their entrees, but their savory & sweet pastries have been delicious. My personal favorite was a "jalapeno popper" pastry. Yum! Their coffee/lattes have also been great. And the customer service is so so...
