Our family of five went to Havana Cafe on Monday evening. I will start with the good... Three of us had the cuban sandwich and enjoyed it... wish it had had more meat, but it was a good sandwich. I honestly don't remember the names of the other entree's we had, but they were good too. That being said, the reason I gave this restaurant 1 star is that the service was horrible. Upon receiving our food (which took much longer than we felt should have taken) we asked for silverware and napkins.... Ten minutes later, we had to flag down the server (we were only 1 of two customers in the restaurant) and literally beg for silverware and napkins. For five people, she brought two sets of silverware and 4 thin little napkins (not much bigger than those at Dairy Queen). We had to beg for more so my son could eat his soup... He never got silverware and ended up sharing mine. My mother in law asked several times for sugar packets and she never received those either. When we were finished eating, another lady came by to see if we wanted dessert... we decided to try the coconut flan.. I asked that she bring five spoons so we all could have a taste of it. She brought back 4 spoons (and had already cleared the table of our dishes) so we had to share spoons for dessert too.
For a dinner that cost $80 + tip, I would think that the service would be a little more professional.
We will NOT be returning to this restaurant. When dining out, I feel that we are paying not only for good food, but also a good atmosphere and good service... and the service is what brings this restaurant down. (I'd read the previous reviews and decided to try it anyway because everyone has their own experiences... but they were spot on as far as all the issues we experienced). I would rather spend my money at a restaurant with mediocre food but great service than to spend my money at a restaurant with great food and horrible service - Spend your hard earned money at...
Read moreWell since i dont know where to start, i will summarize with saying, this is not a cuban establishment, its a Hondurian restaurant with a chef who helped a cuban cook in miami.
Food was not at all seasoned with custom cuban spices. The rice was goya brand box rice. The pork was obviously dry and probably couple hours old. I also asked for a morir soñando they responded with whats that. I asked the server where are they from.. You guessed it Honduras.
The cuban coffee expresso was not the real thing either. Its probably bustelo from krogers, thats how off the taste was even worse the auroma was countries away from cuba.
My overall experience was not worth my bill. Never the less for whom it may concern read the menu carefully and you will see that there is no media noche in the menu or sabana Blanca.. Two main dishes in the cuban culture.
And lastly the cuban sandwich is not made correctly so sais the menu.
This place got a 3 out of 10.. 3 is because of the service from the second server i met.
This place some how survived for so long. Most likely because no one here has tasted cuban food...
Read moreI have never had cuban food before and I enjoyed it. The restaurant is very clean everywhere including the bathroom. The pandemic is over but unlike most restaurants they still have sanitizer out for people to use. They have the menus on the table in English & Spanish. It has lots of options and is separated by the types of meat. Decent list of appetizers. I enjoyed the chicken empanada for an appetizer. We ordered roja veija, Filetillo de pollo salteado & fries. My daughter is a super picky eater but she definitely enjoyed her chicken. We all loved everything we had! The food had an unique flavor & nice portion sizes. Very pretty plating also. Served fresh! So for anyone who likes tomato based sauces this is the place for you! The rice even made my daughter give them a chance and I can never get her to eat rice. It was so fresh and tasted so well! I will definitely be back soon to try more things...
