India Palace is by far some of the best Indian cuisine I have had the pleasure of eating. Having traveled all over the world and the United States all my life, that is saying a lot. Not only do they have a large selection of entres and ala carte items they have an enormous buffet every day as well as dinner buffet on Sunday each with over 25 items. But suprisingly, the buffets at India Palace are every bit as delicious as if odering from the menu. Food is fresh and plentiful. The vegetarian dishes are completely separate from the others. Additionally, they have a huge banquet room you can rent for parties and they will cater or you can have your own food brought in. Photos of today's buffet will be posted. I love visiting Indianapolis just for the pleasure of dining at this restaurant. Update June 2, 2024. I was blessed with the opportunity to enjoy this restaurant again tonight. I've never been disappointed. It's delicious and the staff are kind and professional. I don't know what other peoples experience is, but i have said before, I have traveled and lived all over the US and abroad and have been enjoying Indian and Punjabi foods for over 50 years and India Palace ranks in the top 10% of all of them. If you get a chance, by all means give them a try. I never tried the buffet but if it is available tomorrow for lunch, I will as I am staying in the area. I had the special mixed grill from the Tandoori section of the menu. It had beef, chicken, shrimp, onions, bell pepper, etc. I always have mine as spicy hot as they can make it. I also har naan, yogurt, rice, and the spicy pickled vegetable side. That and a large bottle of Indian beer.

We came here for the first time in years. We used to love the buffet, but it just isn’t as good as it used to be. They have raised the price a lot for a lunch buffet too. I really missed the samosas they use to have on the buffet. They did bring out bread that was delicious. The items on the buffet were either really bad or pretty good. They had remodeled since the last time I was in here. I did not like the dirty table cloth hanging down on my legs. Kind of gross. The floor and/or rugs by the buffet were extremely sticky. It was ridiculous how stick they were. Get new rugs already! I will not come back here the next time I’m on this side of town. Disappointed.

The restaurant has been around for several decades and I’ve been a patron through multiple ownership changes and renovations. It’s standard, mostly northern Indian cuisine. The food is always tasty. As of this post, entrees are ~$13 and served with rice. You can quickly run up your bill to $25 per person by adding bread, an appetizer and drink. The buffet left during pandemic but they’ve experimented with it occasionally, recently. Dining here for a duration spanning 4 different decades, the 2-3 times i’ve had a problem are nothing compared to the hundreds of times I’ve had good experiences. I will always come back to India Palace. :)

$12 OVER CHARGE!!! --- read bellow.

I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this restaurant yesterday, April 8, 2024, and from the moment I walked in, it was clear that it would not be an enjoyable experience. The host greeted us with a rude attitude that persisted throughout our entire visit.

As if the poor service wasn't enough, when the bill arrived, I was shocked to find that we had been overcharged by a staggering $12. To make matters worse, EVERY item on the bill was priced at least $4 higher than what was listed on the menu. When I brought this discrepancy to the attention of the staff, instead of offering a sincere apology and rectifying the mistake, they attempted to brush it off by offering a measly $5 discount.

When I insisted on a proper correction ($12), the staff member became visibly agitated, accusing me of not factoring in the tax when, in fact, I had already done so. After much back and forth, they begrudgingly admitted their error and adjusted the bill accordingly, albeit with an air of annoyance.

To add insult to injury, when I inquired about the promised $5 discount on top of the corrected bill, the staff member reacted with hostility, suggesting that I should be more vigilant in checking my bill in the future. While I ultimately paid the corrected amount, it was not without a sense of indignation at the sheer lack of professionalism and accountability displayed by the establishment.

My advice to anyone considering dining at this restaurant, or any establishment in Indianapolis for that matter, is to meticulously scrutinize your bill before parting with your hard-earned money. It's unfortunate that such deceitful practices seem to be commonplace in this city, but it serves as a stark reminder to always remain vigilant when it comes to matters of financial...

Run from this place!I warned you. So here's my review. I arrived at the restaurant I noticed there was a buffet but there was nobody there. No customers no staff. I walked up looked at the buffet food it was dry like it hasn't been stirred in a few hours. It did not look appetizing. I ordered something to be freshly made to go. I got the lamb Biryani which I think they call it Indian Palace special Biryani and chicken tikka marsala. I like Biryani but this is my first time at this restaurant and I noticed that bag that they put the Biryani and was so greasy. I'm never seen biryani red and greasy and you could smell it all throughout the car. I tried to eat it it was the worst Biryani I have ever had, in fact I wouldn't even call it biryani. It just had a regular rice it wasn't Basmati it didn't have the long pasta like noodles that normally I've seen in most biryani. I do not recommend the food here at all. It was pretty horrible. I had to throw the food in the trash when I got home. The chicken in the tiki marsala was dry and the most confusing thing was that the rice that was given to me for that dish was completely mush. I stuck a spoon and I completely disintegrated. The funny thing is that that Rice that came with them Tikka marsala was Basmati, even though it was completely overcooked but the rice in the Biryani had regular rice and was full of grease. I think they gave me the food that was on the buffet. The food that I witnessed on the buffet was all dried up it didn't look like anybody had eaten it all day period before I even ordered I saw them taking everything back in the kitchen. I am almost 100% sure that they gave me the Tikka marsala and the rice...
