I decided to try this place after purchasing a groupon (mistake 1) They limited the groupon so much it was not worth the lack of savings something I have complained to groupon about. I ordered tacos thinking it would be pretty simple, I took a single bite before passing them to be fed to my chickens. One of our party, whom I was treating on this outing ordered a burrito with rice beans cheese sour cream, and guacamole. He after a moments thought changed the guacamole to avocado once learning it was an option. He placed the order 3 times, correcting it once. After a few minutes we were told they were out of beans, in a Mexican restaurant!!! I guess no one could figure out how to drive to the store?... maybe ? Whatever we adjusted and moved on wondering about the food. My friends food arrived and it was a burrito shell filled with rice and nothing else. We returned his food and asked why? They said it would be fixed and a few minutes later they sat a burrito on the counter and called out "beans and rice" (it was my friend order ...:() They were laughing and staring as we returned his food to the table and after a minute or so with the employees watching in amusement my friend looked at me and said I am not going to eat this because I do not know what they did to it, or why they are so amused. At that point I pointed out, it had several things he did not order in it, the one I could see most clearing being tomato and I think green pepper. At that point we got "to go" boxes and brought the food home to feed to the chickens, stopping briefly at Taco Bell as only one of us had managed to choke down any of the food they served us. The steak was sweet with cinnamon and the tacos were... well they were not good, let alone great. The steak was also very tough and hard. All told it was a lousy...
Read moreVisited earlier this afternoon because we were at a birthday party on Saturday featuring a taco bar from Paco's and the food was excellent. My friend who was throwing the birthday party for his wife said he knew the owners and talked about what good people they were so we thought we'd give them a try.
Well...
We ordered carne asada, chips and queso and an enchilada plate (1 beef, 1 chicken, 1 cheese or at least that's what my receipt said...) simple enough takeout order, right?
After an hour of waiting, the girl at the counter asked our order number because she finally noticed we'd been waiting a while. No surprise we were waiting a while, they were putting out orders at a rate of about 1 every 10 minutes. We told her we'd be really happy if they'd just cancel our order and credit our card but she said there was no one there who could do that. She said they'd start our order right then. What about starting it an hour ago? 20 minutes later they called our number and we picked up our food and left. At that point we didn't have it in us to check our order.
Of course it was a mess. The enchiladas turned out to be 3 beef tacos and both meals were slopped into the Styrofoam containers like they were scraped right off the grill. Really unappetizing. I wasn't expecting sit-down presentation since we were getting take-out but come ON! They gave us one tiny bag of stale chips to go with a 2oz cup of queso. $6 for the chips and queso.
What a disappointment. Thankfully there are plenty of other good...
Read moreI grew up in Texas. My search for Mexican food as good as at home usually is disappointing.
Not this place. The meat was exactly what I would expect to get at my favorite restaurants in the Austin area. A friend got their fajita quesadilla. One bite made me sad I hadn't ordered it. My steak chimechangas were good as well, but the vegetables in the fajitas were perfectly cooked.
My husband got the chorizo tacos. He loves spicy food, but spicy food with incredible taste.. not just heat. He LOVED their chorizo. Plus their portions of meat were very generous.
I also LOVED their tortillas. I'm not sure if they're homemade, but they were so good I didn't care. Normally my husband doesn't like corn tortillas. He absolutely loved these.
My only complaints were the queso and beans were a little saltier than I normally like. The queso was still good, but I was unable to eat the refried beans. Their Spanish rice is good, but a little dry. I recommend adding the tomatillo sauce. Really you can't go wrong with any of their sauces. I loved the mild heat of the tomatillo sauce and my husband loved the heat of their habanero sauce.
Needless to say, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the Indy area. If you're from the South and looking for a good Mexican restaurant, definitely give this...
