Nestled near downtown Indianapolis, right next to North Mass Boulder and just off the Mass Ave area, Shin Dig has quickly established itself as a standout dining destination. Despite being open for only a few months, it’s clear they’re hitting their stride—no surprise, given their ties to the seasoned Cunningham Restaurant Group.
On a recent Tuesday night visit, the experience started on a high note. Fern warmly greeted us and immediately won points by offering my young dining companion a coloring page and crayons—a thoughtful touch that sets a family-friendly tone.
The menu delivers everything you’d want for a casual yet elevated night out. I started with a glass of Chenin Blanc, which arrived promptly and perfectly chilled. From there, the breadsticks set the stage with their fresh-baked perfection, followed by a large vegetarian pizza that was flavorful, generously topped, and perfectly cooked. To cap it off, the churro dessert hit just the right level of sweet indulgence.
Shin Dig’s team is another reason to rave. Grace, our server, was attentive yet relaxed, striking a perfect balance. Jake, the manager, took service to the next level, ensuring every detail of our visit exceeded expectations.
The atmosphere here is nothing short of stellar—beautifully designed, with a laid-back vibe that invites you to linger. However, I must mention one huge problem: the ugly coasters. Cunningham Restaurant Group really should rethink their design choices here. While it’s a minor detail, it feels out of place given the eccentric vibe of this place. (I may be being dramatic here 😅)
That said, Shin Dig’s combination of delicious pizza, wings, beer, and fun games might sound basic, but they execute it so well that it feels like a fresh take on an old favorite.
In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger: I’ll be back.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking a mix of great food, fun vibes, and exceptional service. Shin Dig is the kind of place that will keep you coming back for more—hopefully with better...
Read moreWe came her to celebrate my graduation right after the ceremony (5/31). As soon as we walked in, we were impressed with the atmosphere and were really excited!!
The food was AMAZING. We were impressed with everything and would definitely go again for the food, however…
The service was horrible. Our server, I think her name was Rena or Rita, was very unprofessional and made us all very uncomfortable. We told her that I just graduated and she didn’t believe us and asked for proof. We thought it was a joke or a bit at first, but then she proceeded to shove her hands in several of our guests faces and demand someone’s phone to see a photo. We showed her a photo on one of our phones and she grabbed the phone out of our guests hand and started walking around the table with it with a dirty look on her face. It was all very uncomfortable and did not land well. Later on, she started again with the uncomfortable banter, and grabbed one our guests hands and was complimenting him with caressing his hand.. it was just so weird. She kept touching members of our party. The inappropriate touching and behavior aside, she was also very inattentive. We had to ask for refills on drinks, none of our plates or silverware were cleared as we were eating, and she struggled to answer basic questions about the food. When she did come to our table, it was just more RUDE and UNCOMFORTABLE banter that we were obviously not enjoying.
It was all just very unprofessional. We simply wanted our orders taken and to enjoy celebrating my graduation, but Rena made us not want to come back. I hope that this is addressed.
At the end of our dinner, we got to speak with one of the managers and really enjoyed the conversation. He was very kind and down to earth and we...
Read moreThe Shin Dig, located on Roosevelt Avenue in a revitalizing area, has a cool industrial vibe thanks to its old warehouse setting. Large windows and garage doors bring the outside in, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. Inside, there’s a long bar and plenty of seating. The service is friendly, but the kitchen is painfully slow.
We ordered a variety of dishes, but unfortunately, nothing stood out enough to make us want to return for the food. Everything was decent, just not special. Here’s what we tried: • Roasted Eggplant + Goat Cheese – Served like hummus, flavorful but an unusual take on a classic dish. • Kid’s Dig’s Pizza Pie (Cheese) & Kid’s Cheeseburger with Fries – Standard kids’ meals, nothing exciting but enjoyable enough for them. • Drive-Through Cheeseburger with Fries – A solid burger, but the beer-battered fries were underwhelming. If I hadn’t been told they were battered, I wouldn’t have noticed. • 10” Butcher’s Pie – Just okay, nothing remarkable. • Garlic Butter Breadsticks with Marinara, Cheese Sauce, and Roasted Garlic Ranch – Decent, but nothing memorable. • Soy Garlic Glaze & Korean Fried Chicken Wings – Both were tasty and enjoyable, probably the best part of the meal. • Caesar Salad – Arrived late, well after most of the meal was finished, which was odd.
The biggest issue was the pacing—salads coming out after the main course, and my burger arriving when everyone else was already halfway done. While the atmosphere is great, the food needs a standout item, and the kitchen needs to speed things up. Right now, The Shin Dig has potential, but it has room for...
