Our first visit in June was great, but our second visit in July was a bit disappointing. They popped up as a suggestion on instagram, and their story lured me in. We love finding independent, family owned shops as we travel for work.
On our first visit, we ordered half a dozen bagels and a container of plain cream cheese. The bagels are absolutely delicious! The cream cheese is good, and there's plenty for half a dozen bagels. All of the bagels were warm when they were tucked into the bag, which was a happy surprise. As a bonus, all of the staff members we spoke to were friendly, and the service was very quick. The slowest part was me deciding which of their delicious creations we would take with us. If you're hungry and anywhere nearby, stop in for a tasty meal.
Our second visit was very different, and the reason for my change in rating. One of the staff members was friendly but the other seemed annoyed at my presence, and the bagels were not warmed (maybe it's not typical, and they just happened to be warm on the first visit?). The service time was a little slower, though they were less busy than my first visit.
The most distressing part is that we are both now suffering from very upset stomachs. The only change to our normal diet were the bagels and cream cheese. While we were talking about what may have made us sick, my husband mentioned this: While I was inside ordering, a staff member ducked out the back door and took a puff on his vape pen. That wouldn't be a big deal, but he still had his gloves on. Presumably he did not change them when he went back inside, so that's incredibly gross and unsanitary. I'm now left wondering if that's why we're both so ill.
I'll hesitate to visit again, which makes me sad because I like to support local businesses rather than chains, and as a very picky vegetarian I enjoy finding places that don't...

Was looking forward to blueberry bagels with the raspberry chip schmear but they were out of raspberry chip. The blueberry bagels were excellent with the Philadelphia strawberry cream cheese I had to stop and get on the way home though.
The Beccy was good but I realize I prefer American cheese on a breakfast bagel instead of the cream cheese. You are able to pay more to switch that out. We ordered 4 of these as we were heading home to eat with our kids.
I also tried the Lox and Loaded Bagel. I have never had Lox but love sushi so no surprise I liked it.
Unfortunately we now come to a negative. Everything was put into 1 bag. The Lox and Loaded has capers and pickled red onion on it and is packed open faced in a cardboard carryout container. When we got home the container was on its side and the bottom of the bag was ripping due to all the liquid that had leaked from the box and over the blueberry bagels. At least one Bagel didn't taste great and I had to just throw away the last one in the bag because it had soaked up too much of the liquid. I would just ask that the expediter bag things that may leak on bags full of bagels into their own separate bag. We would have even been fine if that was handed to us separately since it was in its own container and would have sat upright on the floor of my car on its own.
I'll still go back as those unsullied blueberry bagels were some of the best...
Read moreI had such high hopes after hearing such good reviews. As a NYC transplant I generally avoid bagels outside of that home, and will now continue to do so. These were not bad, but I might classify it as bagel bread, not much crust, pretty smooshy. Maybe they don’t let them sit out long enough before boiling or after baking…they also seem to encase them in a plastic wrapped roller cart which effectively steams them post bake. I feel bad for sending my order back three times because I didn’t want it toasted and couldn’t understand why I kept getting a toasted bagel. Come to find out they’re all just sitting in a steam bath, possibly reabsorbing moisture and degrading whatever crust they do have? Not bad but the right texture seems to be such a difficult target, not that I could do it. The drip coffee was also cold. The cookie was hyper gooey, but delicious. The staff was pretty patient with my send backs, but again, I was missing the New York attitude of someone just telling me they didn’t toast it when they didn’t toast instead of pretending to make efforts to appease me…three times in a row, but they took my sour homesick mood with grace. If I didn’t know better maybe I’d say 4/5? Definitely beats a grocery...
