It was a humid summer evening, the sun had just set over the horizon, when I found myself venturing into the Garage Food Hall. I had heard rumor of how pleasant the experience here was and decided this was something I needed to immerse in myself. I would have called my time at the food hall an average experience but what allowed this evening to stand out was my time at Hard Truth - and not just artisanal drink selection, but the outstanding customer service I received from one of the bar tenders.

Where to begin with the wonderful Joshua Hodge. To start, I was promptly greeting the moment I sat and he seamlessly engaged me in welcoming and stimulating conversation that not only made me feel welcomed here, but also wanted here as a customer. Upon divulging that this was my first time at this establishment he quickly impressed me with his deep knowledge of Hard Truth's history and what makes them stand out against other bars in the area, providing detailed and thorough explanation of all the drinks and their unique ingredients. There is a true passion for not only customer service, but also for mixology - each drink he inspired me to try was carefully curated to my desires and was crafted so eloquently that that alone would solidify me as a life long returning customer. Hours passed into an entire evening, and before I knew it, I had been there until it was time to close the bar - something I haven't done in YEARS (sans pandemic).

The charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent that Joshua Hodge posses is that of 1 in a billion. It is rare for individuals to find their passions let alone end up in places that let them share those passions and those gifts with others. Josh has found his. I was having a really hard day a few weeks ago, I'll spare you the details. I was visiting Indy for business and just needed some liquid therapy in a good atmosphere. Naturally, I was drawn towards Hard Truth. I usually don't sit at the bar area of an eatery, I feel too on display. However, I was greeted and waved up to the bar by a bartender named Josh (I hope I'm getting his name right)!

By the time I was comfortably resting at my seat he already had an ice cold water waiting for me. He wasn't overly pushy asking about my day or my order, but I could tell he had intuitively known I needed to talk. How do good bartenders just know?!? Poor Josh had to sit there and listen to me unload about my troubles and kept my drink fresh and flowing.

What impressed me the most, and inspired me to actually leave a review, was the fact that even though I felt as if I had Josh's full attention, so did each wayward patron at the bar. He was giving personalized service, remembering everyone's drinks, and most importantly, remembering where they were in their conversation.
