I was in Inverness, and decided to try Viet Deli. I was not disappointed.
On arrival, I offered a friendly greeting by the server, and once I specified I was dining in, offered my choice of table.
Looking at the menu, I knew I had made a good decision to stop in. Even though it was overcast and rainy, I decided to not get the pho or one of the other soups. All of the soup offerings sounded really good, and I knew I'd never be able to decide.
So, I decided to try their pork, chicken, and shrimp fried rice with an order of Vietnamese egg rolls. It did not take long for the fried rice to come out, and I was pretty intimidated by the portion I was served. Not only was it plentiful, but I quickly discovered it had a hearty amount of pork, chicken, and shrimp in it. The usual fried rice suspects of carrots and peas were present, along with kernels of corn, green beans, bean sprouts, and fried egg. When asked, I was also told they use sweet soy sauce when cooking it.
The Vietnamese egg rolls came out a little after the fried rice as they take longer to cook, and they were very tasty. Crunchy, flaky, and hot, they were very delicious. Even more so when dipped into the sauce they were served with. They definitely tasted like they were made in house.
I chose lemonade to drink with my meal but only because there were just too many wonderful drinks in the cooler to choose from. Just like the soup selection on the menu, I would never have been able to choose just one beverage to drink. That doesn't even include their drink offerings from the menu. Teas, boba, etc. All wonderful drinks, and all equally tempting.
If you like Vietnamese food, this is a great place to go. Friendly staff. Good food. Good prices....
Read moreThis review has been edited to reflect 1 star. Scroll down to read. This was our first visit after a co-worker recommended. As much as I want to, I can't give this place 5 stars. The food was excellent and very tasty. I knocked off 1 star because the shaky beef plate I ordered came with luke warm beef and green tomato slices. While this might be trivial to some, I like my food hot when served. I ate the raw green tomato that was supposed to be red...not as good as a fried green tomato lol! Wife had the Pork bowl, although could have been served hotter and she was happy except for the excessive cilantro mixed in. Wasn't expecting that; and it totally overpowered the other flavors. The place is exceptionally clean and very nice inside.Reasonably size portions (mostly rice) and we ate every last scrap and left with full bellies as we were starving. For the most part, service was OK, but not very cheerfull. We'll definetely be back but ask for just a hint of cilantro and ask nicely for the beef to be hot. $38 for two with just water. 4.5 stars. Edit 1/26/24* Lowered to one star. Shaky beef came out less than luke warm this time and I have doubts if it's actually fillet mignon as stated. White rice was luke warm. The lemongrass chicken rice plate was disgusting. The "chicken" if that's actually what it was; was chopped up left overs that had been cooked who knows when. Totally nasty, bland and luke warm. The white rice was also luke warm. When the server asked if everything was OK, and I said NO, she just disappeared back to the kitchen. Needless to say, we will...
Read moreIt was a bright, open, well lit, five stars because of the clean environment. Staff has always been upbeat and smiling every time! It's been a while since I had visited, and the food was very good, as I remembered. They opened at 11 am, I got there at 11:15 am. and I was the first one. Pick your table, Courtney said! By the time I got my food, they had sent several people out with Togo orders, and several tables were now occupied! Just steady moving the staff was, food came out quickly and hot! I ordered the large beef pho combo (rice noodles, like ramen noodles), a soup with pork, beef , brisket, meatballs , I had them not add the tripe and tendon that was included as a personal preference and then for five dollars more , I added shrimp I left spending 22$, pre tip, approximately, while drinking water! I do believe that is one of the most expensive combs they offer. They do have several less expensive options! Photos of menue are online as of time of this post. I ordered what I believe has the most meats and largest bowl! I did finish the large bowl of soup filled, and the side plate of extras added in, too! Enjoyed chatting a bit with the friendly neighboring tables! Location is close to everything in town! Go check them out! I'll go again...
