University of Iowa — Restaurant in Iowa City

Fantastic Doctors, Physicians assistants, and staff! I was however very, very disappointed that while walking to and from the hospital, we walked on the sidewalk on hospital property and the fence between the sidewalk and hospital were lined with hospital staff members smoking right next to the "no smoking" signs. I was there for my wife who has stage 4 lung cancer, she never smoked a day in her life. Having to walk past dozens of University of Iowa hospital staff members smoking on the property while leaning on the fence that had signage stating that this is a smoke free facility. What a kick in the gut for my self and my wife with stage 4 lung cancer having to breath that 2nd hand smoke for a block and a half. I expected better. Absolutely disgusting and to be in the medical field and subjecting patients to 2nd hand...

Their referral process to their pulmonology department takes 5-10 days, I was told, when I called. On top of that, it takes time to actually get in for an appointment, I was quoted another 2-3 weeks. When someone has suspected or potential lung cancer, this is a horrible wait time. Meanwhile, Iowa Health Clinics got me in for my first appointment within 2 days and a PET scan within the first week and a half. For Iowa City supposedly being the "best" in the state, this is below standard care. Iowa City still has yet to call me (this was all found out back on April 4th, it's now April 19th), I already have next steps and a diagnosis with Iowa Health Clinics. I recently traveled to The University of Iowa, my alma mater (Class of 1989), for the first time in 25 years! It was a road trip from Chicago with an old friend whose daughter now goes there. We encountered great service, prices, friendly people, etc. There was "Caitlin Clark Mania" going on still on campus in celebration of the NCAA/Iowa girl's basketball legend who recently broke all NCAA scoring records & brought her team to the Finals. There was such a great vibe on campus while we were there, Iowa City & the university were jumping! We also stayed overnight at a great new hotel that was conveniently located near everything right in the downtown area!...
