This place is decent, at best. But probably more accurately described as “below average”. Probably more of a 2.5 than a 2, but that’s not an option on Google; and a 3.0 seems too generous.
The food was over-priced for the quality and portions. The burgers are cooked fine and taste okay, but certainly not what you’d expect from a place that puts “Burgers” in their name. Only had the biscuits-and-gravy otherwise, and they were terrible. We paid $30 for two single cheeseburgers without condiments, a bottle of coke, and the side order of biscuits-and-gravy. That is roughly what you would pay at Five Guys for more (and significantly better) food.
The service was mediocre. The cashier refused to take my actual name (Christian) for some reason, insisting on putting “Chris”. They have a sign explaining that you’ll apply your own condiments (to “add as more or as little as you would like”), implying there is a condiment bar perhaps; but in actuality you are supposed to order your condiments with your burger still, and then apply yourself. But they didn’t explain that, nor ask what condiments me wanted. Also, the cups of condiments provided are limited in quality.
The service was also fairly slow, despite not being busy. And the restaurant wasn’t particularly clean.
You could do a lot worse picking somewhere for lunch, but you could also probably do...
Read moreFirst impression, very comfy and nice small-town food place. Well organized and designed front and they have what they sell clearly displayed. I like the idea of giving the customer the option of applying their own condiments, it's a sort of novel idea. Really let's you customize your food! Their options for condiments and such aren't exactly broad, but it's enough options to satisfy most people. The food is... alright. The burger gives me ball park vibes, as in it seems a bit cheap. The fried onions and other condiments were fantastic however. The cheesy potatoes are a bit of a miss, a bunch of cubed potatoes absolutely smothered in cheese, and not good cheese. Taste wise they weren't horrible, but I wouldn't get them again. Overall however, this place is nice. For only 14 bucks you get a Burger and a side, which isn't too shabby all things considered.
Lastly, the people running the place are very friendly and kind, and the food was fairly fast as well! I'd probably come again to try...
Read moreIf I could give more stars I would on every front. Bad day turned good when I found this joint. I'd say worth a 2 hour drive. Only thing I could even say, not on point, was I needed way more napkins for the amount of food you get. Chopped and mopped cheesy beef won't fit inside me at the moment but I can't wait to get the rest of it my belly. Firecracker corn was stellar if you like the spice, I hit it with a dab of their garlic mayo, and it was a perfect blend of savory and spice. Their corn bread is some of the closet I've had in the Northwoods that even stands a leg against southern soul food. All that food for 16 bucks. Nowadays economy, you dont find anyone not charging a dollar or two for grilled sides, let alone 3 sides. Ate outside and got music from river north pub. Was a great way to end the night. Thanks, everyone, @ Bumps! Oh, great friendly staff as well! Almost forgot to mention that with all the food...
