Yeah, ummm... not good.
Lemme preface: I don't care for the Pizza Huts, the Domino's, and the Papa John's of this world. They're not horrible, mind you, they're just not good. I like good pizza- good crust, good sauce, good toppings... (Original Pizza in Newport, anyone?) Boy, I'm hungry for pizza. Still. (I just ate the "pizza" from Main Street Pizza. And yes... that's pizza in quotes. A lot of nerve they have, calling it that.)
Man, I was happy! I live off the 55 and MacArthur, and there's not much in the way of delivery near me. A quick google search for "pizza" showed up Main Street Pizza and Cafe. There were two google reviews that were really favorable (4 & 5 stars!!). No Yelp reviews.
Medium combination pizza and a slice of cheesecake was $21 + tip. Could've been a dollar, and you'd get the same review. First off- their medium looks like a small. And I knew as soon as I opened it up, I was in for a world of disappointment. How can a pizza from a place called "Main Street Pizza" look like a cheap $3 pizza from the grocery store with 1/4 the amount of cheese? It was terrible! There was no flavor in the toppings. It had pepperoni, salami, rabbit-dropping sausage (you know- they kind that Domino's has, but with less flavor. No real italian sausage here), ham, green peppers, onions, olives, tomatoes & mushrooms. By the way, how do you screw up pork? I mean, it truly takes a talent to make a flavorless pie with pork products- pork is pretty much a universal, magical make-your-meal-taste-better meat. The crust was "cardboard-like", but it didn't have as much flavor as I expect cardboard would have. The sauce? Ketchup. Or catsup. Or horrible- take your pick.
You truly could not pay me to eat this pizza again- I would rather have ketchup on corrugated cardboard with spray cheese and rehydrated vegetables baked at 350, than have this again. On the upside, the guy I spoke with (I think he delivered it, too) was really nice. Don't care- never going back. Er... have it...
Read moreI had ordered a pizza for our Anniversary and I wanted to surprise my husband and send him a pizza (his favorite food) with I love you written out in pepperoni...He lady who took my order said oh yes we can do that no problem....He got the pizza and it was a plain regular pizza not the way I described I wanted....He sends me a picture of it and I was pretty disappointed..I called the store to complain and the manager was very polite and apologized and made the right pizza for us and personally delivered it and also gave us a ten dollar gift certificate...He saved the day!! And turned a disappointed customer happy!! In today's world it's all about the service I understand we are human and we all make mistakes but take ownership of the mistake and making it right makes a big impact...Thank you Main...
Read moreUntil today, I had been a regular and frequent customer. But this sorry outfit (and its petulant owner) has consistently nickeled-and-dimed me time and time again on my orders. Hell, they won't even put the order contents in a take-out bag unless the driver requests it. They cut corners every which way they can, then lash out at the customer for being difficult. And to add insult to injury, the owner told me today that they don't want my business any longer. Disgusting outfit. The owner needs to get her head straight when working/dealing with customers, particularly her good...
