I was in the mood to try peri peri chicken. I had driven past The Port of Peri Peri many times before, and decided to go there, as there are not many places that specialize in peri peri chicken in the area. My order was enough for me (1 person), but I was also quite hungry, so you can gauge how much to order when there.
It was about 30 minutes till closing time, and I was greeted by the manager when I entered. He was very friendly, answered my questions from a first time guest, and offered helpful suggestions.
I ordered the two ¼ chicken: leg and thigh, with peri fries and perimayo corn for the sides. The manager was kind enough and offered the rice and garlic sauce to try as well.
I ordered to-go. When I got home, the temperature of the food was still hot. I tried the peri fries first. Dusted with peri salt, the fries were very delicious and paired well with the garlic sauce. The chicken was next. It was flavorful tender. The rice and the perimayo corn balanced the tang and savoriness of the chicken. The perimayo isn't sweet, but slightly on the creamier side, which made it stand out as well. His recommendations for sides were the fries and rice, but I would recommend the corn too, especially if you love corn.
The service and care of the customer was great, and the food was fantastic. I would definitely come back and also recommend the...
Read moreWent to this place about 40 mins before closing. My personal cut off time is don’t go 30 minutes within closing as I know the employees hate it and I don’t want to be that person. My gf ordered her food and nicely asked the man at the front if she can get some of the sauce on the side, the guy responded yelling at her “NO WE DONT DO THAT.” I let it go, customer service has suffered since Covid. Then as we were finishing dinner someone came to pick up their to go order. The same guy seemed so annoyed that a customer came in. Then the to-go guy asked for extra sauce. The cashier yelled at him with a no. The to-go guy said I’m happy to pay for it. I come here all the time, I would like to get it and pay. The cashier refused and the guy left very upset. He mentioned how he’s never coming back. The cherry on top was when we were still eating, with about 10 mins left before closing he told us we had to leave. They get 3 stars because the food was good and we go to restaurants primarily for the food. But this guy really needs some customer service skills. We won’t be returning to this location but will drive further for the other one where we and everyone else isn’t getting yelled at for giving...
Read moreI couldn't believe I had never tried out this place while visiting Dallas. The person who took my order was very polite and and read back my order to me before finalizing to make sure he had all the details correct regarding my spice levels. It was takeout and he told me it'll be ready in 10 mins. I went back to the car and right at 10 minutes, I jokingly told my husband I'd be surprised if the food is truly ready knowing how unpredictable most restaurants are. Behold! Our order was ready. The aroma coming from the food was so good we couldn't wait to dig in. We ordered the Quinoa salad with falafel as well as the half chicken and a side of veggies. The food tastes fresh and wholesome. The chicken was grilled and well spiced. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and even our picking kids latched on and commented on how "yummy" the food was. I will definitely recommend this place and it'll be one of my go to places while in Dallas Also if you are health conscious, there are definitely options on the menu to...
