Excellent food.Nothing to complain about it. But when it comes to service/hospitality, we were treated how Central Govt treats Tamil Nadu. Yes horrible and impartial. You will not be given menu card to start with. You will be served with your appetizer after 45 minutes(After serving all other people who came after us). Note that I had a one year old and 4 yr old with me. Waitress will not come to you to ask if you need anything else at any point of time but she will be asking every 5 minutes at every other table.(didn't give us onions till the end but we saw them delivering to all tables) The waiter just placed the check on our table and turned her back in a haste.(is she not supposed to ask if we need something, we were about to ask Take away boxes) Waitress doesnt seems to understand the job. She looked glum all the time like we are eating for free and forgot how to smile .Worst thing is she didn't try to have a nice conversation with kids(which is a common sight in many other restaurants in US) After all, when we were leaving, the guy at front desk who was greeting and thanking everyone finally took a glance at me and realized and this could be his mind voice" oh no this guy don't speak Hindi, why have to thank him or greet him, let's do something else better".Wow, such a nice guy.. PS: When we were seated first by the waitress, they asked us to relocate to last table as they realized lately that our baby's High chair was blocking the passage to deliver other tables. I was asked and I didn't say a thing and obeyed nicely. And we were nice to them right from beginning. Not sure why the hospitality would change based on what language you speak .Not seen such impartial hospitality in any American or Chinese or Mexican or Italian restaurant I visited so far except one of the IHOP. I am bit reluctant and humiliated to go to this Indian restaurant after this experience..I am not definitely not being a racist here , just reporting that this is a bad hospitality for "no reason" ( may be a reason that we are not a Hindi speaking family). Owner has to fix this no matter what. Looks ugly and it is a defame to Indian...
Read moreThis place probably has the best North Indian food in the area with respect to value and quality of food, by far. Maybe even the best indian food considering all the other places are pretty lackluster in service and food quality esp for vegetarians. The ambience is also fairly nice and signals a more upscale and modern look without removing too much from the customer's pocket. As for the service, I never found it to be over the top hospitality, but rather efficient, speedy, and polite. We arrived on a Sunday night when the restaurant itself was fairly empty. We ordered some Aloo Paratha, Naan (which comes with entree), and Onion Kulcha with 2 entrees - Bhindi and Smoked Eggplant. There are three things that were done well by the restaurant: the food arrived really fast, the portion sizes were pretty darn big for the price [not necessarily a positive for me since I didn't want to waste it and almost ended up eating too much], and the quality of bhindi and eggplant was of home cooked quality. The breads were soft, fairly thin, and well made, while the entrees were cooked well without the addition of unnecessary fatty ingredients such as ghee or butter. This goes the same for desert where we ordered the wheat halwa. The food and the restaurant overall, offer nothing extravagant, but does well in its simple list of offerings. The restaurant gives serious consideration to people with allergies and people who don't like garlic [yes there are those sort of people - cough :) ] I would give it 5 stars if it offered a little more variety in terms of vegetarian entrees or daals without garlic or the addition of plain yogurt to the menu, but then again there might be a minuscule number of customers for those items. Definitely will be my go to restaurant from here on. Looking forward to see if they maintain the standard. 4 people can dine comfortably for around $50 (not including tip), which is good value for this sort of food...
Read moreUrban Tadka offers a cozy atmosphere with an interior that, while average, sets a comfortable tone for diners. My recent visit there left a positive impression, especially when it came to the food.
We sampled a variety of dishes, starting with the Kashmiri Chicken and Reshmi Chicken, accompanied by Paneer Mirch Masala, Garlic Naan, and Rumali Roti. The food was served hot and fresh, a clear indication of the restaurant’s commitment to quality. While the Kashmiri Chicken was just okay, the Paneer Mirch Masala was a standout. It was exceptionally flavorful, perfect for those who enjoy a good dose of black pepper. The Reshmi Chicken also did not disappoint, with its tender and well-marinated texture.
However, the drinks left something to be desired. Both the Patiala and Punjabi Lassi lacked the authentic Punjabi taste I was hoping for, making them not worth trying. It was a bit of a letdown given the otherwise good culinary experience.
The service at Urban Tadka was decent, neither too slow nor remarkably fast. The staff was courteous, and the overall dining experience was pleasant. The restaurant's menu is on the pricier side, which might be a consideration for budget-conscious diners. Despite this, I would still recommend Urban Tadka for its tandoor varieties and overall taste. Their Paneer Mirch Masala alone is worth a visit, especially for those who appreciate well-seasoned, flavorful dishes. Urban Tadka may not be perfect, but it certainly offers a worthwhile...
