Honest Vegetarian Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Irving

We had take out once and really liked it. The ambiance was good, the restaurant was clean. So we decided to go into the restaurant to try again. We were seated immediately and into a booth. We were given the paper menus and were given a few minutes. We ordered a dosa that was devoured even before I could get a picture. The chutneys were good, the sambar was a little salty but okay. The dosa was crispy and well made.

We ordered manchuria, which was absolute disappointment. It was just oil. The garlic was too overpowering. We couldn’t even eat one entire Manchuria. It was so oily, it made us sick to even smell it. Couldn’t taste anything else as it was just, as I mentioned, oily. Knowing they wouldn’t do anything about it, and it was pointless to ask why a deep fried dish is oily, we ordered a plate of idli. The idli had pink stains, and I asked our host what was going on. They said they would change it, and took my plate back. They brought it back WITH THE SAME IDLIS and told us it was just beetroot.

Now, I didn’t order beetroot idlis, I ordered just plain idlis. And the lady who got it back just rushed away before I could even demand an explanation. This is how frustrating it was to sit at the table with stained and oily food and you are being told the food has stains from food that shouldn’t be in the said food. The chutneys were the same as they were for the dosa. The pav Bhaji we ordered was good. The Pavs were soft, and the bhaji tasted amazing! The food tasted good, except the Manchuria. So let’s be honest about Honest Restaurant Review: I’ve visited this place over the course of a year from the soft opening to as recent as yesterday and weekend before. Overall the ambiance is well suited for location. Cleanliness is 5 star Service: 5 star Now let’s talk about the food. Which I have ordered over and over. Appetizers: Paneer Tikka and Paneer Pudina Tikka is to die for. If you don’t order this you are missing out in-house made fresh Paneer. Which is made to perfection for a paneer lover.

Punjabi curries: my all time favorite is Paneer Tava Masala. I couldn’t emphasize the flavor and smoky tava feel the dish has. Hands down 5 Star

Now let’s get to Bahubali Sandwich which has a tangy kick and served with chips. That is filling if you are having for lunch or dinner. 5 Star

When it comes to Pav Bhaji we ought to have a broader understanding that it’s made in Gujrati style as made in India. Most people when ordering it have an understanding that it would be made in Mumbai style but need to understand it’s Gujrati restaurant and fits perfectly with the local norms to its original location in India. So if you want to expand your palette it’s Honest Special Pav Bhaji is good.

To put cherry in top they serve it with fresh Amul Cheese which brings back fond memories to me.

I did visit the store during peak rush hour between 830-915 PM and got excellent service and amazing food.

Honest restaurant has a large footprint not only in the US, but overseas as well. This restaurant, with its roots tied deeply into Indian cuisine and culture, provides an extensive menu from appetizers, chaat, sandwiches and main course. If you’re visiting honest restaurants, the main attraction is always going to revolve around chaat and appetizers.

I visited for dinner on a Sunday. I was delighted with the quick service. We ordered a bunch of things off of the menu and everything was served in a timely manner.

The food - Bhaji pav, Dabang Dosa, Kattapa Sandwich and Chinese bhel.

The Pav Bhaji had that nostalgic Indian street style flavor, the Sandwich was a wild card loaded with cheese and good flavor while the Chinese bhel was loved by everyone for its fiery attitude and crunchy bits. The dosa, however, left us wanting for more.

Overall, was this the best chaat that I’ve ever had? NO. Was this the best Honest restaurant that I’ve ever visited? NO. Is it good for the price? Absolutely YES.
