My experience was a mixed one, and, while it wasn't totally negative, I'm not sure I will return.
We ordered and split the following: a chai latte, a lemon croissant, an apricot-almond croissant, a chai maple tart, a vegan breakfast burrito, and a breakfast croissant sandwich.
The chai latte tasted fine but wasn't hot when delivered.
The lemon croissant was good, but the curd was bland. The pastry was very crispy and a proper laminated dough.
The apricot-almond croissant was on the bready side, but the halved apricot and danish topping were very delicious.
The chai maple tart had a buttery crust and a very light, whipped filling. However, I found both flavors to be very weak. I tasted no maple.
My breakfast burrito was good. I thought the portion size was fair, and it came with a side of fresh fruit. However, I found the roasted vegetables inside to be a bit large and a difficult to navigate around. The hash browns in it completely disappeared and were in no way crispy or noticeable.
The breakfast sandwich was the tastiest item! The croissant was flaky, the eggs had a nice browning on the outside, and the bacon was substantial and delicious. However, the cheese was lackluster. It was advertised as sharp cheddar, but it was incredibly mild.
The owner and staff were very accommodating, friendly, and attentive without hovering. While this place wasn't for me, I urge others to try it out and wish them nothing...
Read moreI read a negative review recently about Bakers Table that I have to respond to. The review said that the food is stale, comes out cold, and employees are rude. That, I believe, is a fake review. This is a 24 hour bakery. Everything here is made daily. It does not get any fresher. So to write that bakery items are old, stale, and served cold is a complete fabrication. As far as the employees being rude, I have never seen that, actually just the opposite. I managed a very large restaurant on the Santa Barbara coast and I think I am much more aware of how a bakery/restaurant is doing than the average customer. When food is ready, I see that it is served immediately. I have eaten here consistently for four years and I have NEVER seen poor service. This is accomplished by training employees to focus on efficient service with a shared work ethic. It is very difficult to run a successful bakery and restaurant. There is just so much to do to keep the wheels on the bus. I feel we are so fortunate to have such a high quality restaurant in Santa Ynez with delicious food and beverages created and served by incredible, hard working people. In my opinion, Bakers Table touches all the bases....
Read morePassing through Santa Ynez and we happened to park our motorhome across the street." Hey Hubby, I'm going to check out this bakery across the street." I opened the door to find a spacious airy bright room filled with only a few pastries left by 2:00pm. I bought a hugh maple scone. Back on the road again, I bit into crispy buttery edge of the best scone I have ever eater. NOW you must understand, I am an award-winning competition cook who makes plenty of outstanding scones. The Baker's Table scone was better than mine by my "judges" eye and palate. The texture of the crumb and the natural flavor of the maple was perfection. I arrived home and couldn't stop thinking about this perfected scone so I quickly planned a trip to Santa Ynez with a girlfriend to share with her my new maple scone discovery. I called The Baker's Table ahead of time to ensure there would be 4 maple scones set aside for me. Upon arrival they couldn't find the reserved maple scones but fortunately had 3 left. I tried out the lemon ginger scone too...very good. Soooo now I have booked another trip to Santa Ynez because it was yummy love...
