Second attempt to try this restaurant. First time was on the busiest day of the week for this type of place - Taco Tuesday. There ended up being a 45 minute wait. I don’t wait as a rule so that’s on me. Good for them though. Last night I was “lucky” to get at table for my party. The place was packed and not even a Tuesday. My waiter promptly greeted us taking drink orders. Also introducing themselves were biting flys. The flies unlike the wait staff made frequent check ins. Our waiter disappeared then reappeared right next to our table where he ran into an old friend. They spent 15 minutes catching up while we waited for our drinks to arrive and asked if we needed more time to decide on our food order. We all pretended like everything was ok and proceeded to order. My food order was not what delivered. I’m easy going so thought I’d just try some thing I may not have otherwise ordered. It was the carnitas taco that delivered. I picked it up and immediately the soft shell corn tortilla fell apart. The carnitas were like a soup so they saturated the tortilla. Good save though was they had a fork on the table so could eat the taco that way. The street corn seemed to have been in a boiling pot all day so it was soggy. From there it just continued to go downhill. I really wanted this place to work out. Unfortunately not the case for me. I’m sure there are plenty of stories that are not like mine, however, there are likely more like mine. Oh, also something to note. The entrance on the main street side is not actually an entrance. The actual entrance is a door opposite the library and is marked “entrance” however it’s the entrance to a different shop. You wouldn’t know unless you tired every possible...
Read moreCalled at 940 while we were deciding where to eat to check closing time and also what time the kitchen closed. So we could decide where to eat. Was told 11p for food and 12 for the bar. Friendly bartender but that's all I have positive to say. No one mentioned a limited menu on the phone. Get told on entry only tacos and dips are available ,for a reason that makes no sense at all. ( no reason you couldn't order a burrito or a side item if you can out tacos and guacamole, salsa, shrimp, tomatoes together) We Ordered 2 each and guacamole dip. Was told to go get my own chips and dip ,it was 1030 and i saw ar least 4 or 5 staff members working,(nothing covering them, just out on a table, nothing to get them out with, asked but was told they were throwing them away anyway and not to worry about tongs or a scoop. Other people were eating them then as well). The tacos and gauc dip were fresh but absolutely flavorless, no salt, no garlic no seasonings at all of any type. Not anything like real Mexican food.
I heard good things about this place but they must have been drunk before they tasted the food.
And I love music but what was playing there was obnoxiously loud and awful. Loud screaming death metal doesn't really scream " cantina" to me.
The food and music was so awful, in spite of still being hungry, we dare not order anything else and chugged our margaritas and paid and ran as fast as we could.
Really expensive for flavorless food and godawful music. Go eat at cazuelas, La supra torta, or a great local food truck instead. Half the price and absolutely amazing food.
It doesn't have a local business vibe at all except...
Read more7/2019. This is a local chain as far as I know. I have been to others in the city area and those have been fine. The parking is large stone lot. I would not suggest dress shoes, heels, or rainy days. You could park at the library next door. That's what we had to do, but again, parking is limited. This one is in a bad building, with construction debris sitting on the walk way. This is where my problems began. Along with that there is a large black mouse trap sitting next to the stairs. I saw a few people trip over it. It was busy, and no room to walk to our table. The out door seating is located on a corner for the road with a stop light. You will know every time the light turns green.
I ordered a specific drink. Every thing was fine with that one. My wife asked for a second one while I was up getting salsa. A runner brought it, I looked at it and could tell it was not what I drink. I told the server it was not right, and she insisted it was. I took a sip to be reassured it was not. She did not offer to have it remade, I did not drink, yet it was on the bill. I will not be returning to this location. I am not going to argue with a kid about knowing what I drink. The place is busy. People seem to like it. We had poor service when we went. I don't see any reason this would be different if I went again.
The place has been open a year. Still construction debris, poor and small parking lot,...
