Los Portales Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Jackson

We were hot & tired, so we had a laps of judgement. I had wrote this restaurant chain off due to poor service and ridiculously high prices. Our only other choices were fast food & I was to hungry for games. We were seated when we walked in, order was given when we sat down. Received chips, salsa & drinks quickly. Then it happened. I heard the sizzling of Fiesta fajitas headed my way. However it did sound different. I figured it was because me and my wife got the same thing. That was not the problem at all. I'm not even sure how the waiter brought them to us without burning his arms. They were sizzling to the point of splashing all over. Hot grease flying every where. I tried moving things around in hopes to cool it off, bad idea. It got out of hand quick. The final result was a slightly warm hand and burnt steak & chicken. Onions were cooked away, peppers were burned to a crisp and the shrimp died all over again. Passed away along with the steak. It took several minutes before we could even touch the platters and transfer to a cooler plate. The section touching the plate was unedible. I drowned the rest in cheese dip and salsa to be able to chew it up. The rice, bean and sour cream plate was perfect. It was lunch time so it was still a good price for what was edible. I never attempt to complain at these restaurants as it becomes a non-English understanding establishment as soon as you start to state a problem. This used to be my favorite restaurant but they have fell way off. Slim line between hot and dangerous, with no over exaggeration. It was dangerous to bring it out that hot. I hope no one else has that situation but if you do, don't move the plate. Slide away from it until the grease stops flying, then move it all to a different plate asap or it will...

Myself, my girlfriend, and my cousin went to lunch there today. Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant. First thing was I asked our waitress if the draft beers were 2 for 1. There was a big sign on the door that advertised this. Monday through Thursday. The waitress said she didn't know. I said there was a sign on your door. She said she would check we ordered 2 22 oz. Draft beers. We got chips and salsa delivered so we snacked and waited on the waitress to come back and take our order. We ordered our food and 15 minutes later a manager of some sort brought our food. While delivering it he dropped part of my guacamole salad beside our table. Only sour cream and lettuce fell.. No guac. The manager came back and cleaned some of it up but not all of it. He sent the waitress and she made an attempt but didn't get it all. I asked her if guac was supposed to come with my salad and she said she would go get it. I explained my girlfriend's salad did not have it on it also. She said I will get both of you some. And we asked for more tea that my girlfriend was drinking as well as chips. No of this arrived at our table. Then the manager guy walks buy and I said may we have more chips. He said yes. Spoke broken English. Well for the second time today no chips. We decided it wasn't in the cards for extra chips today. So was asked for our check and got it. No 2 for 1 drafts today. Beers were 7.00 for 1. So I thought I misread the sign. I look at the sign once I pay 56 dollars for that experience and I was not wrong. So I decided some place that really needs customers will be where I spend my money. I am in complete disbelief at how nasty my food was at this location I have never got bad food from Los portales but this location is the reason why I will never go to Los portales ever again picked up my food last night within 7 minutes of ordering my food and wondered why my food was ready so quick when I literally had just ordered it so when I got home my food was cold my steak was fake I had the ribeye caramaon I chewed on my steak for over 20 minutes I couldn't even chew it till swallow it tasted like shoulder steak to be honest it was so nasty and chewy I had to not eat it no more I still got the steak right here on my kitchen table it's very nasty I also ordered a fiesta fajita and that was even more horrible it's like that they had the food stored when folks order it my order was 46 bucks how do you get old food at that dang on price 🤦🏼‍♀️ it really pissed me off and I will never come to any of these locations ever again this is unacceptable especially with how much food cost has went up ain't no way in hell I should have got old today 😔 this is the location of Dr Effie wright close to the interstate I think the location is considered Park place plaza the only location in Jackson Tennessee that's got the best Los portales is the one on Old hickory don't waste your time going here both times i have been was a waste of money i tried to give them another chance and my food was more nasty now than the last...
