This was my first time at Mojeaux. We arrived around 12:45 PM and found the door locked. I called and was told they were in the middle of fixing something which he said, but I can’t recall it. They were planning to open at 3 PM, but he asked if we were at the door which we were, so he accommodated us because they were getting food ready. He didn’t allow anyone else to come in besides myself, my aunt and another lady who was there before us. People were coming up to the door and leaving.. I’d wish he thought to put a sign up about opening at 3P. By 2P, the waitress arrived who was really sweet and pleasant!
I ordered the Mojo It (turkey leg with pasta, shrimp, crab meat, and sausage), prepared mild spicy. It started off just right but definitely built up in heat, if you’re sensitive to spice… the seasoning was on point. The turkey was mostly tender with just a few minor overcooked spots, but that didn’t take away from how good it was and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My aunt had the salmon and green beans. She said the salmon was great and that she would order it again. The green beans were fresh but a little salty for her.
Again, the staff were friendly and provided great service.
That Mojo It was enough for two people!
All in all, a great experience. I’ll definitely be back and I pray this place...
Read moreThe wait time was unreasonable, over 45 mins for food. However, the food did not meet expectations. The chef retrieved frozen fish from the freezer, checked to see if we were observing, and then served us fried fish that had not been properly thawed. Consequently, the fish was watery and the batter was falling apart. The shrimp lacked flavor. Furthermore, the gumbo was over-salted and more akin to étouffée. The gumbo depicted online did not match the dish served. The jambalaya tasted similar to Tony's boxed jambalaya, and the rice was gummy due to overcooking. The restaurant ran out of rice, prompting the chef to rush the cooking process. The beignets were satisfactory but unremarkable, and they were dense. Cafe du Monde and Another Broken Egg offer superior beignets. Additionally, one lady and her daughter experienced a nearly two-hour wait for their food. The prices are excessive considering the subpar quality of the food. Notably, the operating hours listed on Google do not align with the hours posted online. Lastly, our waiter was nice but was not knowledgeable...
Read moreLet me start by saying that the food was DELICIOUS! May have had a little too much salt but excellent flavor. The 2 stars are because it took 1 - 2 hours to get our food after ordering. I must say the crab claws were GREAT and plentiful! There were 20 of us and it seemed the meals were prepared 2 at a time. Even the salad took 30 minutes to come out. We all decided that it’s not worth going back for food if it takes that long to get it. This was a Wednesday night and we were the only ones other than 2 females in restaurant. The owner, Chris, is very nice, great atmosphere and they said the drinks were good. BUT service overall sucked and the waitress (Anna) was nice but super slow. It took her 30 minutes to give one lady her check. Smh Maybe lunch is better! We arrived around 6pm. Our orders were taken around 7:05-7:20. My food came out around 8:40pm and my classmate got his last...
