I have to admit that I would NEVER have stepped foot in the location aside by the recommendation of an old friend who frequents the location regularly. Sushi place tucked away off in the countryside immediately raises flags about how fresh the fish is, experienced the chef is and so forth. This location was a bar for a long time. The inside is dark, a bit dull, and still throws those dive bar vibes. A refresh would do the place a lot of favors. It is what it is.
Our friend who comes here often knew the waitress well so our experience as far as service was a bit skewed. There were four of us. We ordered some tea that came out tasting like it has been squeezed through their mop. It was absolutely terrible. We reordered fountain drinks. My wife ordered a house fried rice and ended up getting the side size of plain fried rice, as in rice and soy sauce, no vegi, no meat. It wasn't worth making an issue of. We both ordered "cooked" rolls as there was no way I was going to take a chance on my preferred item(s) in sashimi. Too far off the beaten path for that. Our rolls were ok, pretty run of the mill. Not the worst I have ever seen, probably about as good as the grocery store.
The friends we met had some "Chinese" dishes and both of those presented well. My thoughts are that if you came here for some soup and a plate of Chinese, you probably would be impressed. I wouldn't go so far as to say our rolls were the worst experience I have ever had with sushi, but the combination of it, the service, and just how gloomy it is inside don't make it a hard decision not to come back again.
Lol, hope our friends don't read this. We had a spectacular time visiting with them. One major plus was that we sat and talked at length, and they weren't busy enough or inclined to mind that we were taking up a...
Read moreOur dinner here on a Saturday night was one of my top 5 disappointing dining experiences. It takes so much bad for me to complain but it cannot be helped this time. We were seated pretty quickly but it took 15 minutes before a server even acknowledged us. There were only 3 other parties in the restaurant and multiple servers so it wasn't due to them being slammed. Once we were finally waited on the server did get our drinks out pretty quickly. We ordered sushi and hibachi meals. The sushi came out about 15 mins later but all on one plate and we had orders for 3 different people. Not really a problem just made it a bit inconvenient. Hibachi orders took over 30 mins more to come out and then we had to wait 10 more minutes to get the rice. We had to ask for the rice, yum yum sauce, and refills of drinks. I have never been more actively ignored by a server in a restaurant! She was standing at the computer 4 feet away in clear line of vision and hearing so she should have been aware we needed all the things. Finally she offered to get refills taking 3 glasses to the back to refill. Two were sweet tea and one was coke. The glasses were mixed up and tea was put on top of coke and vise versa. Good thing we were family and no one was sick!! The restaurant was never busy and we were never rude only so I cannot imagine what the problems were. The food was over sauced and the steak actually had a weird taste to it. This visit amounted to a $140 meal that wasn't worth $40 or the time we...
Read moreWhere do I begin?? We've been coming here for years! And ove raved over this place for the past few years! However this evening..... we get here and every single table has dirty dishes on them, we stand and wait and the staff sees us, but we keep waiting. Finally a man comes up to the front. Asks how many and grabs menus and walks away. Doesn't say anything to us, no eye contact, no nothing. We stand there because we wasn't sure if he was cleaning a table or seating us. So, we just start walking and he slams the menus down and walks away. About 10 mins later, comes back and asks us for our drinks and walks away. Another 10 mins goes by, here are our drinks. Then we order our food and he comes back with plastic forks and we are like "where is the actual silverware" his response was.. "I'm not folding anything" and walks away. The young lady heard us and came over and started folding some silverware and gave it to us. We heard him say 'they aren't special' and again, walks away. This experience was just awful and I'm highly disappointed in the staffing of this one person but still love the food. It...
