I've been here several times with no problem. Then yesterday our family went here and I ordered the shrimp and grits. As a background, I'm not a complainer at restaurants. I've gotten the wrong order before and just ate it. And this is also the first time I've ever asked for the price of my meal to be removed from the ticket. The roux was a watery moat of soup surrounding the grits. No real taste. The grits were, well, just grits. Again, no taste. The shrimp were tiny, like those $5.00 bags of shrimp from Walmart. There was no evidence that they had touched a frying pan or any spices. For all I know, they were microwaved in a vacuum. Atrophied and tastless, like aged hospital food. Picture a dish from RMC in Anniston, sans the staph bacteria. And again, tasteless. It was, literally, the worst attempt at shrimp and grits I've ever eaten in my 40 odd years. And they wanted $15 for this? I asked the waiter to have it removed from the ticket. He returned after asking the manager and told us they would not remove it. No initial visit from the manager, just a 'No.' That, in itself, is just poor management. Then, as we're getting up to leave, the manager shows up and asks if everything is okay, and says there was confusion and blames it on the waiter, who has done nothing wrong and confused nothing (how would you confuse a yes/no answer from the manager?). She goes and checks with someone else and returns to tell us that they'll take 30% off of my meal. Removing food cost from one meal. Wow. I am a generous God. I had to go eat Taco Bell to remove the blandness from my aura. The other meals were fine, but I will never eat here again.

I ordered scallops with extra vegetables from the Jacksonville location. And this is what they tried to serve me. They charged me $70 for the two boxes of five scallops and burnt vegetables. I left my food there and I won’t be back. The manager was so happy when I asked to speak to the manager, her smug face when she said that she was the manager was somethings she had obviously practiced with much satisfaction. She offered absolutely no resolution except more burnt vegetables. I wasn’t interested in anything that they were going to cook after this is what they tried to send me home with. $100 for 10 scallops, burnt vegetables and two burnt personal pan pizzas is a little outrageous. I won’t ever have to worry about eating there again and the manager won’t ever have to worry about seeing me again either. Their food is subpar and their attitudes are awful. The counter at the bar was sticky and the floor even stickier. I think it would be a much better environment if they were clean and accommodating to their customers, instead of smug and argumentative. They were so very satisfied that they had already taken my money and they weren’t going to give me a refund. My credit card company had a different idea about that so I wasn’t too concerned about the transaction because I believe in my credit card company. I don’t believe in Effinas Tuscan Grille. Don’t waste your time or your money trying to get a good product out of this place or these people.

We visited Effina's with friends on a Sunday afternoon. It's a great little place in Jacksonville with rustic Italian decore'. The service was good; not very personal but very thorough. I had the Italian Nachos (pictured), as well as the breakfast pizza for my meal. The food was very well prepared; the Italian Nachos were AWESOME. Seriously, I'm getting them again. Waffle cut potatoes with Italian Seasoned Chicken, perfectly cooked. covered with peppers, then cheese. They were so good. My Breakfast Pizza was good, but there wasn't much about it that screamed breakfast. It had a small amount of scrambled eggs, but they really weren't noticeable. It tasted great, I just wanted more of a breakfast theme on it. The food was priced well; we'll definitely be back! A side note, the upstairs dining is a bit inconveniently located. The restrooms are downstairs, and for some in our party, the stairs were quite the struggle.

My family was really looking forward to eating brunch today. Upon arrival, there was mass confusion at the hostess station. All four looked confused. One even admitted she did not know what was going on. After finally being seated, we waited 20 minutes and asked a waitress where is our server. When our server arrived to take our drink order she explained that she didn’t realize that she had our table. Obviously a breakdown in communication by the staff. After our order was taken we waited another 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Now you would think that since we waited so long on our waitress to take our drink order that she might place our meal order ahead of a few. That wasn’t the case! After 40 minutes our order arrived. Hash browns were cold, the bun on my breakfast sandwich was burnt. Then the server came running up with the egg that was supposed to be on my sandwich. It was cold and burnt as well. My daughter’s hamburger was well under cooked. We ate what we could due to being hungry. We asked for our bill. Next thing I knew the waitress reached down and took my plate before I was finished eating and was gone. Not a total loss it wasn’t very good always. We did not complain due to time restraints. Honestly, this review doesn’t even need 1 star. Wish I would of thought to...
