It’s just ok. Let’s atart with the food, because that’s what’s most important. It was ok. It wasn’t great (like Taco Lu) but it wasn’t terrible. I will say that I make way better tacos at home. The pork was flavorless, but I added some salt and it was fine. Definitely not flavored with any sort of cayenne, paprika, chili pepper or anything. The second time I went, I had beef chimichangas and it was like most Mexican restaurants; fried slop on a plate. The rice was dry. The beans are ok. The chips and salsa are the best part (which shouldn’t be the “star” of the restaurant).
Next, let’s talk about the atmosphere. It’s like a sports bar. My husband and I were trying to figure out why it felt weird in there and we realized they don’t have anything other than canned lights in the ceiling (no hanging pendants or anything) and the walls are mostly empty, except a mural on one wall.
Lastly, let’s talk about the wait staff. Some of them come across as rude, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt there. The first time we were there, the waitress couldn’t answer any questions about our menu. I asked how many tacos came with the dish I wanted to order and she said 1. I figured that was a really expensive taco ($10 and some change) but ordered it anyway. It came with three. Our drinks sat empty. She barely came back to ask if we needed anything. It took way longer to get in, eat and leave than it should have because she didn’t come back regularly. We were there about an hour and 15 minutes or so but should have only been about half an hour. The food came out not long after we ordered so it was definitely her. Some people bring your drinks and take another 10 minutes to take your order. This was one of those places where anytime we asked for something, it was at least 10 minutes. The second time we went, the waitress was just clueless. The service was just awful. Again, not attentive, drinks sat empty, she barely came back, etc. We’d ask for things and they’d never come. There was another lady who was walking around with chips that was equally as clueless. She brought chips and no salsa, then later brought salsa and no chips. We had to ask for chips three times before we finally got them.
Overall, if you’re looking for a place to sit and eat chips, well, this place isn’t bad, but again, not great. I’d go back, but it certainly isn’t the neighborhood gem that so many people talked the La Nopalera...
Read moreBrand new location in the heart of Bartram Park, although this place is smaller compare to all the other La nopalera in town, it has a huge bar with a variety of mixed drinks and beers to offer.
Service was decent on a Saturday night. I came in with 5 other girls and we were seated right away. Since the place is new, the waiter was a bit slow on getting us our drinks and did not check on us as often as I would like. Hopefully the service will improve after this first experience.
The decor is lovely, the wall art is perfect, goes well with the theme. Open concept with a big bar in the middle, so I love that. It was pretty loud towards the end of our night when people started to pour in, so it's definitely not a place to bring young children or to sit around to mingle.
The food was good, big portion for the price. I had the $10.99 chicken and beef taco salad, the chicken was cooked perfectly but the beef was definitely over cooked because it was so dried. My friend had the fish tacos, veggies and fish all served separately, which was odd. Also, the fried chimichanga is served with ground beef, so that was a let down.
Overall experience was nice, we might come back whenever we crave tex-mex but this will not be my...
Read moreI usually love LaNops food - that makes up for the slow service I’ve received at other locations but this was the absolute worst with no redemption. Walked in and was promptly seated. There were less than 3 other parties seated so figured the prompt service would continue. Ordered light for a party of two - 1 margarita, 2 waters, 1 order or birria tacos and 1 order of birria fries. Waited over 20 mins for the food and the fries arrived ice cold (literally) and the tacos were definitely not hot. Simply asked for a replacement on just the fries only but after another 10 min wait, advised the check would be preferred at that point instead. The waiter communicated with someone (probably manager) briefly and continued on. The manager interacted with a guest at the bar as I waited another 5 mins of so for my check. I finally had to go to my waiter across the restaurant to re-request the check to which he said he asked the manager to provide to me. The waiter got me my check and charged me accurately but seemed so embarrassed that he disappeared literally as soon as I tapped my card, leaving me with nothing to sign or the ability to catch him and provide him a tip as imo the issues were not a result of...
