Sushi House & Grill — Restaurant in Jacksonville

So this is what happened ....my husband and I really enjoyed the complementary cucumber salad that they gave us at the beginning of our meal. So my husband ask if he could order a large bowl of the cucumber salad and they brought back something that had fish eggs on it, as well as imitation crab in it. After attempting to scrap, then dig the fish eggs out of the food my husband took it back up to the sushi bar and just ask if he could get a cucumber salad without any fish eggs or fish. So then they brought the second cucumber salad again except for this time it just had the imitation crab in it and not the fish eggs. Well my husband said something to them that he was just trying to get the same salad that we had a little bowl of earlier, and we did not know we needed to order it with a bunch of special instructions. My husband pointed this out and again that this is not what we had asked for and the rude server argued with us that imitation crab is not fish when in reality it’s made out of fish. But the point that she was even willing to argue with us was not a good sign. On the third try we finally got a bowl of cucumber salad like what we originally ordered.

So when they brought the bill the cucumber salad had been comped and we were appreciative for that felt pretty good about the interaction and was not worried about a few little mistakes, so when she took our credit card and charged it she added the cucumber salad back on. So our card was charged for a different amount than what was originally on our bill and she did not say anything or ask us, she just did it. My husband then took the credit card receipt back up to the counter to try to talk to them when she argued with him again and then started speaking another language to her coworker and promptly ignored my husband. Meaning, she just stood there and started speaking Chinese or Japanese as my husband was talking to her and then she just blatantly ignored him. Hands-down one of the worst and most unprofessional experiences I’ve ever had in a restaurant.

It’s to bad, as it is exhausting to have this type of experience when we were just trying to relax and get some dinner. We are new to the area, and are looking for a favorite local Asian spot to get meals several meals a week and to take company when we have visitors. This will not be the place. Be aware that the total charged to your card may be different that what the total bill was when they took your card from your table. The price on the menu was not the price charged in the computer. I explained the menu price is advertised and it was illegal to charge more than advertised. I refuse to patron an establishment that hopes you don't notice the extra charges. I wonder how many loyal customers were ripped off. The lady pretended it was no big deal. Refused to refund the over charge and just acted like it was okay. Actually it is illegal and even though the food and service were good they clearly rip off customers who are oblivious to these elevated prices with no transparency. Shame on you. The owners response is absurd. I showed the lady at the counter the menu price and the receipt. 100% charged more than the menu. She stated paper menu wasn't updated to match computer. NOTHING MALICIOUS AND I STAND BY MY REVIEW. THE OWNER IS MAD THEY GOT CAUGHT. SHAME ON YOU. The paper menu she gave me stated 10.95 and I was charged 11.95. Showed this to your employee. Your employee acknowledged the diggerence and attempted an excuse but did not refund. The owner should walk up to the counter and look for himself at the menu at the desk handed to customers. The owner should speak to the lady at the counter. Don't attack me FOR telling the TRUTH. Hey owner you can change the website prices at anytime. Your computer register prices can be changed anytime but guess what...the menu you hand me in store had better match my receipt. Its a Shady practice that there are three different prices for the exact same item depending on website..menu in store..or cash register.. get it together and make sure your prices across the board are the same for the...

We tried this restaurant when we first moved here 7 years ago. I can't say it was awful because the food had no flavor whatsoever.

Now that we're moving back west, I decided to revisit. I tried spicy tuna rolls and teriyaki chicken with soup and 2 leaves of lettuce with 3 strips of carrot they call "a salad". The rolls weren't even spicy (no heat whatsoever), let alone the bright red goo that's supposed to be tuna, looked like styrofoam and tasted literally like air, but without taste. And these were the tiniest rolls I've ever seen! I don't know man, the fried rice and the chicken were as tasteless as the rolls were. There was nothing in fried rice besides a few chunks of egg, nothing. The Miso soup... Oh boy, finally something! Too bad it smelled like feet and tasted like reduced salt water. Salad, both bites, were acceptable due to the ginger dressing they offer.

My personal opinion is that this place is an insult to an average and above consumer. The owner and the chef should be ashamed of...
