Omg! Las Tapatias is my new favorite! I don’t know how it took me this long to try it. I’m Mexican-American and grew up in Salinas, CA - so I know good Mexican food. I have been struggling to find legitimately good Mexican since I moved to Florida 8 years ago, but I finally found it!! I ordered the quesabirria tacos and they’re delicious. They come with the amazing consume you expect but also a fantastic, perfectly spicy, creamy salsa verde (if you have zero spice tolerance don’t bother but if you love spice you’ll love this). 🤤 Every bit was amazing and it was sooo filling. For my kids (1.5 and 7.5 years old), I ordered carnitas tacos w/ side of rice and side of refried beans. Those are simple dishes that a lot of local restaurants just completely butcher but NOT Las Tapatias! Their beans and rice were on point and flavorful. They but tons of carnitas in the tacos so you get what you paid for! Carnitas we’re perfectly seasoned and not dry. It’s also worth mentioning that was expecting to have to pick off the onions (because kids lol) but they put the onions, cilantro, and limes on the side in the box so it was perfect for the kiddos! Despite being take out, they included chips and both salsa rojo and salsa verde in the bag. The salsas were both good! The red was mild enough for my 7.5yo and the green had some decent spice for me. Lastly, I ordered a mangonada and it was the icing on the cake! I have been searching for somewhere that serves mangonada or something similar and I was not disappointed! They add enough chamoy and tajín compared to others and it perfectly balances the sweetness of the mango. I literally have lived around the corner from this place for 5 years and didn’t realize it was everything I’ve been looking for! We’ll be back regularly now that we...
Read moreThis will be the one place to go to. The food is great the flavor is just like I expected, their prices are decent and inexpensive. I will recommend if you are in to soups the seafood solo is what you want. I also tasted the tripa tacos, which I will recommend. Do not ask what part of the animal it comes from since you will not want to taste it. But if you feel like being a bit brave go for it. The flavor is something you will crave for and the next time you visit them again since you will after tasting some of their food. Let me know what you think! Was i wrong? The service is also good if you don't know what they really mean from the names of the different choices ask and they will tell you what it is. The one thing I was not to happy to hear was, when I asked the waitress what did she recommend. This should be second nature since this is the bread and butter of their business. The owner should encourage that their employees taste at least one dish a week so that the can make a informed and true suggestion. Best of luck to you, your food made me wanting to come...
Read moreThe restaurant reminded me of an old shop that I used to frequent in Puerto rico so I appreciated the setting.
The servers were nice (family business) and seated me immediately.
I ordered the speedy Gonzales off of the lunch menu ( 1 taco, 1 enchilada, beans or rice). I ordered Carne asada taco and it was listed that it came with onions and cilantro.. anytime I see that on the menu I know I'm in the right spot!
Chips and salsa came first and the salsa was good; fresh onions and not too hot. When my food came, I was disappointed; the taco was in a hard shell and had no cilantro or onions in it or on a separate plate and When I asked for it, the server looked bothered.
The meat was tough and chewy..no lime flavor and tasted of grease. The enchilada red sauce tasted sweet which was surprising to me. The beans had no flavor and weren't mashed completely; instead of smooth and warm they were clumpy.
I ate a few bites of it all and ended up eating queso, salsa and chips.
Definitely disappointed in my lunch and wish I went to grab...
