I went there a few days ago seeing a woman I believe named Alisha; long blond hair first chair on the right. I asked for a wash, hair straightening, and for it to be styled as a blowout. When you look up a blowout you see volume, smoothness, and wavy or natural curls. It’s what I had done last time by someone that no longer works at that location but she did great. So the last visit I got done was in my account. She said she could do it. We started off with the wash. If I’m paying for someone to wash my hair, I like to feel like it’s fully washed and that they did a good job getting all my hair. Every hair stylist I’ve ever seen has me pick my head up to get the back of my hair that’s sitting on the sink. She didn’t. I hate that feeling that all my hair didn’t get washed, so I kindly asked her if she could just get the bottom of my hair. Instead of just saying “sure” she wanted to argue that there was no hair there. Even though it was sitting on the sink not being touched. But she did it. Then she blow-dried my hair. She then proceeded to straighten it. As I watched her straighten it, I knew it was going to come out bad. Her hands were very light on me as if she wasn’t doing anything. When I straighten my hair, I start from the bottom to the top making small sections ensuring everything get straightened. She would take big sections and not even go from root to tip. So she would have to go back inside my hair fixing areas that weren’t straightened. When we were done, my hair was left frizzy and feeling like hay. It was evident it wasn’t fully straightened and the only product she used was heat protectant but only on my roots. She said we were done. I was confused because I thought I was getting a blowout style after like we agreed. She proceeded to argue with me that apparently, a blow dry and a blow out are the same thing. So the “blow dry” was the blowout. I was shocked someone claiming to be a hair stylist thought this was true. She even went to look it up. And read me the definition. I just wanted to leave because a so called “hair stylist” that can’t straighten hair is obviously not going to know what a blowout is. When I went home, I started from the bottom of my hair to the top going over with a straightener since my hair felt horrible. All of my roots were of course curly. And she wanted to tell me she straightened my hair. $60 for something I could do better myself. Never going back.
I also want to share some things I heard while getting my hair done by the older man who’s almost bald with the Chinese tattoo on the back of his neck. He finished with one client and when they didn’t tip he proceeded to say “No tip? I take my time on you, I love on you and you don’t give me a tip?” Now I work in a restaurant. I get frustrated if someone doesn’t tip. But I have never called someone out on it and made them feel pressured to tip me, which is how this guy felt because he then tipped him. This stylists’ bluntness was shocking to me and unheard of. He then finished with another client. This client handed him a coupon. He proceeded to say, “You should’ve told me because if I knew you were gonna give me a coupon I would’ve gave you the $10 haircut because I just gave you the $40 haircut.” I was shocked. The quality of your work shouldn’t be dictated by someone giving you a coupon. And nobody has to tell you from the start that they have a coupon. This man has some audacity talking to clients the way he was and it was not appropriate to me.
I don’t need a comment with an email I just think someone higher up should go see these “stylists” they hire and view the quality of their work and the way they...
Read moreA man named Wayne was assigned next in line to cut the next customer which is Me! I gave him the benefit of the doubt and wanted to follow my gut but like I said, I gave him the benefit of a doubt because all I needed was a trim. I sit down in his chair, and he proceeds to look at my hair. tell me what he’s gonna do And I say OK What happened? Next made my heart skip several beats and my stomach was in knots. He just started cutting my ends without even brushing my hair or wet it first, may I add that I have natural curly hair, anyway. I said you haven’t even brushed my Hair yet? why are you cutting my hair? It’s not gonna be even I have natural curly hair and I told you this I said I know you know what you’re doing so I’ll let you keep doing it, he said yes I do know what I’m doing but since you’re uncomfortable I will let someone else finish cutting your hair. I declined his offer and said he had already started it and needed to finish it. I’m in my 40s and it took me a very long time to grow out my hair this long. When he was finished cutting my hair which didn’t require water or brush, just scissors eye level to my hair freestyling my cut so I paid the man 20 bucks and left. I called the next Great Clips that was closest to the location that I went to and got a hold of Cheryl over off Deerwood. That woman felt so sorry for me and didn’t realize that just because of his stupid unprofessional mistakes that he made I lost 4 inches of my hair. Why didn’t I go back inside and let the people fix my hair at the current location: well there was probably about two other stylist there and it’s not like we were being quiet so they had every opportunity to jump in and help out. I am devastated and I hate my hair. It doesn’t look long anymore. The time it took to grow the length of my hair, took a very long time, and the fact that all it took was a simple mistake to lose every sense of confidence I had left in myself to grow my hair out.
Nothing can fix what you’ve ruined. Yeah so it’ll grow out but that’s not the point I know it will grow out but my hair didn’t deserve to cut like that and quite frankly I don’t see why he even works there. Maybe he was uncomfortable and he should’ve confronted me I don’t know, I know at the end when I got up he seemed nervous and he did pull my hair and when he pulled off the Cape around my neck or whatever it pulled my hair, it’s just a bad experience altogether and it’s guys or girls like him that gives salons like Great...
Read moreI guess I am a glutton for punishment thinking it would change. I've gotten my haircut at this place ~ 6 times over the last 8 months. The location I have been going to is on Old Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville, FL I have tried explaining what I want in a haircut and luck of the draw has it that 4 of the 6 times I get the same lady. I don't know if she doesn't listen or doesn't care. She never cuts my hair the way I ask her to. I guess she thinks she knows how my haircut should look better than I do. The most recent time I went in there I showed her a picture of what I wanted her to do and I told her NOT to cut any off of the top or go past a certain point in the back because I get a cowlick. She did a horrible job. I had to tell her to go higher on the sides 3 times and to go shorter near the top of my hair and it still wasn't what I wanted AND she cut too much in the back and decided to blend the top after I told her not to cut ANY off of the top. I decided to just pay and leave because I don't like confrontation. I also don't care that you used to cut hair for Miss America pageant participants, celebrities or whatever and I don't care to see your photo album. She tells me about it every time I go in there. She may be great at cutting women's hair but horrible at cutting mine. I will not ever go back to this location and possibly never go to another Great Clips again. I'll take my...
