Lazzara's Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I had a really bad experience my first time going there. They were kinda busy but not super busy, they has a lot of customers waiting for food. I ordered drinks a wings because my co worker ordered the pizza, sat down and started to eat. About 8 mins had passed and I seen the women who took my order so I asked her how much longer will it take because we were almost done with our pizza and her response was u know wings take a little longer to cook I said ok and watched her as she went back behind the counter. A few moments later I seen her wipe her nose with her hand and then pick up my tray of wings. O no big mistake. When she delievered my wings I asked to speak to the manager she walked over to the counter said something to the manager and came back over to me and said the manager is busy at the moment is there anything I can help u with I said no ill much rather talk to the manager about this issue, she was persistant to know what I wanted to talk to her manager about so I told her I seen her wipe her nose and how unsantiary that was and she said I didn't do that. I said sweetie I been looking at u this whole time so her response was I didnt touch ur food I touched the basket. At this point I am fuming is she serious. I seen u wipe ur nose and pick up the tray that my food is in. So I waited about 2 more mins just to see if the manager would ever make it over there. So when she didn't make it to me i took the food back up to the register to recieve a refund. Multiple people told me that at the end of the night I would receive the money back on my debit card, well guess what its no day and still the money have not been put back in my acct. Ended up getting into a whole argument with the cashier about the proper way to wash hands and how your not suppose to touch ur face or anything else on ur body while handling someone's food and not washing your hands. The manager still never came. This guy that wasnt even in the conversation started yelling at me in front of other customers. I WOULD NEVER SPEND MY MONEY HERE AGAIN. The customer service sucks, the food isnt that good, and the manager doesnt care to comply with complaints or see whats going in in her establishment. I called this morning to talk to a manager about my refund the person who answered the pbone didn't say good morning or nothing just can u hold please and after 3 mins I hung up. We have used and loved Lazzara's for the last handful of years. It has been our favorite pizza place after our other one closed shop. We have never had an issue or missing food. I'm not sure what has happened, but the last 3 or 4 times have been awful. The last time we were given someone else's order. They were kind enough to resend our order, but the pizza was burnt. The time before that, our food was cold. Before that, we had missing items and let it go. This time was our last straw. We ordered a gyro with extra everything to make a bowl due to dietary restrictions. A steak and cheese, extra mayo, like we always do. 2 small salads. Chicken wings and fried mushrooms. Everything was ice cold. The mushrooms were so cold, it seems like they had been frozen. The breading was mush and the ranch had exploded all over them. The sandwich had a ridiculous amount of mayo, so much that it was more mayo than meat and couldn't be eaten. The chicken wings are covered in feathers. Absolutely disgusting and smell rancid. The gyro meat is all uniform and was burnt around the edges. I could count the pieces of cheese and lettuce in the salads. This was a joke. We paid almost $80 and that's what we get. I'm not sure if management or cooks have changed, but we will be finding a new pizza place.

In town vowing my daughter and called to place an order and check on wait time. Was told it was 45 minutes for pick up which seemed long- but guy on phone advised there were 4 pizzas ahead of us so ….. it is what it is! My daughter picked up two pizzas on the way home from work (7:30 on a Friday night). People in store were great and pizzas were just coming out of the oven. We ordered the Buffalo and a “Supreme “.

I personally can only comment on the Buffalo because it was so damn good that it was the only one I ate! The crust…. Man.. I have not had crust that flavorful with the right amount of chew and crisp in….. forever. No “pizza bones” left here! The chicken on the buffalo was different than any other that I had ever had. It was deep fried and had a crispy coating (think tenders cut up) and it was plentiful on each slice. The sauce and cheese was perfect in proportion to the crust. If I had to eat only one kind of pizza for the rest of my life- this one would be it. My husband and daughter ate the supreme and said it was delicious. The toppings were abundant and fresh- the mushrooms were fresh, not canned, and the meats used were cooked nicely and delicious also. The price was higher than I am used to paying for a pizza- our two large speciality pizzas came to $60, but the quality was fantastic so I don’t mind paying a bit more. Definitely will get pies...
