My experience here was poor today. Service was mid but was even more so poor at the end. I order the Mac and cheese w/ bacon bits, Blueberry Danish, Lemon Pepper Wings, Fried Pickles, buffalo ranch chicken, Spicy Chickun Fry, and Fries.
The blueberry danish was like a 8/10. Pretty good dough and filling. This is worth a try.
The fried pickles was ok. Like a 5/10. They were pretty greasy and the centers were too soft for me. Eating them felt very heavy on the stomach. I wouldn’t go for these again.
The lemon pepper wings were inconsistent. Some dry and some wet like. The lemon pepper seasoning didn’t even taste like lemon pepper. More like a vinegar and worchestire sauce. You could’ve took these home and air fried them some more IMO. Since it was a mix, some outsides were a lil crispy and others wet while the middle wasn’t fully cooked either. The store brought vegan/plant based tenders are better than these.
The buffalo ranch chicken and Spicy Chickun Fry sandwiches were a miss too. 1, there was just too much sauce on the sandwich. I had more sauce than the “chicken” itself. The tomatoes was almost as thick as a whole half tomatoe and they had hella pickles on the sandwiches. Oh my goodness. This just ain’t it for me.
The fries were almost the best thing, but still greasy as hell and hella salty too.
The Mac and cheese w/bacon bits was actually burnt bits and ruined the entire Mac order. I couldn’t get past the burnt grill pieces that powered over the rest of the dish. It’s like eating burnt popcorn with the good popcorn. You just can’t miss that distinct terrible taste.
While trying to get a refund, they informed me they didn’t have a refund policy. As we were discussing the issue on the phone, they blatantly just hung up with no regards to what I had to say. This place is very much so rude. All in all, I will have to have the bank dispute the entire charge now instead of the small amount I wanted a refund for in the first place since they couldn’t help. They actually told me, so many people have been asking for refunds, they had to change the policy because it was costing them so much over time. Smh, not my problem as a customer.
Avoid this place at all cost. I’m sure you’ll find much better quality, food and service at another establishment. While I was excited to come at first it wasn’t a great experience for me and I won’t be returning. They might need to hire a real chef and revamp their menu for some help. They should also consider a customer engagement training or something to help with service and interactions. An interior designer would do them well too as I wasn’t too fond of the caved in ceilings look.
How unfortunate & distasteful. Don’t know how long they’ve been in business, but I don’t see them continuing in the future. Terrible place...
Read moreJust picked up some sandwiches from their booth at the beaches green market and they were fantastic. The owners have come into the restaurant I manage a few times and are genuinely friendly and kind people. I haven't tried any of their options since the food truck days, and the things they are doing now have wowed me again. When you are passionate about working in the restaurant industry, the way you analyze a place you're eating at is different. You pay attention to all the details, from the service to the cleanliness, and I have to say that the experience I had today satisfied me from start to finish. Online ordering was user friendly and quick to navigate. Service was friendly and on point without being overbearing. Despite being at a market booth which definitely creates limitations for a restaurant, all of their stations were kept clean and the food was amazing. And the options they are providing are inventive and made from scratch. You can literally taste the love pouring out of this food. I eat a mostly plant based diet, but even if I didn't I'd enjoy eating the things they are creating. It doesn't have a weird taste or texture like a lot of the plant based options I've tried, it's genuinely delicious and accessible for anyone. Lastly, COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the restaurant industry and I really respect the way they are adapting. They have found ways to get their food into the customer's hands without endangering them or the staff. They are playing it safe which is something I haven't seen at a lot of the restaurants I've been following during this time, and I'm sure it's negatively impacting their sales but they are doing what is right regardless. With all that said, I highly recommend that you check them out and show some support. Whether or not you eat a plant based diet, you will definitely be satisfied by the entire experience you have with them. I can't wait to check out their storefront when they are able...
Read moreI fell in love with both the neighborhood and the restaurant. Their food is so good, and I can order almost anything I like due to the gluten free friendly substitutions. Instead of breaded chickun they grilled my soy curls unbreaded, substituted their house patty that has gluten for a Beyond burger, and served me both on GF buns. I was ecstatic!!! A restaurant where I can enjoy Plant-Based Comfort Food, then enjoy the fantastic nearby shops (I’ll share in upcoming posts) is everything my heart desires. 🥰 FYI: I caution anyone with Celiac’s disease that cross contamination is possible, and the fryer/grill are shared.
Gluten Free Fried Pickles: This was the #1 reason I wanted to eat here. Yes, their menu is amazing, but I wasn’t sure I could enjoy much even with a gluten free bun as an option. However, fried pickles have long been a favorite that I haven’t enjoyed in almost a decade, and this is the first restaurant I’ve seen that has them. They were so good, I would order them, even if they didn’t have anything else I could eat. But, thankfully, they do!
I had these as a side for the Buffalo Ranch Chickun, specifically prepared to be gluten friendly, per my request. It was absolutely delicious, and I cannot wait to eat it again! I'm also looking forward to another Black Cherry Tarragon Stubborn Soda because it was delicious.
Murray Hillbilly has a laid-back atmosphere with books to read and games to play while you wait for your food. There’s even a small assortment of items to buy including t-shirts, hand-crafted hats, and a variety of eco-friendly items. I had to try on the crochet hats. They were absolutely adorable, and for those who don’t know I used to not be able to wear hats because I had too much hair. 😆 I loved that each one was different not just in color but in style, and it was neat to see how they each looked on me. Perhaps next time I’ll...
