Whit's Frozen Custard of Avondale — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Nothing to write home about.

A girl friend of mine insisted that we try Whit’s! So we did. Went in and ordered a dirty worm, happy Sunday, beach madness, and a scoop of vanilla in chocolate coated cone. For some reason we stood there for 10 minutes and watched other orders get fulfilled before going back to the counter to inquire about our order....the guy didn’t even acknowledge that he made a mistake and kept us waiting...our family didn’t receive this top notch friendly service everyone else seems to get when they come here. The girl realized what happened and apologized and said she added an extra scoop to my cone for our trouble but never gave a reason as to what actually happened.

Anyway, not returning. There are better places to get...

It's a very nice custard shop in Avondale. The staff makes you feel comfortable and there are so many choices of flavor combinations. They have options already set or you can build your own. They also had a 'flavor of the day', which that day was Black Cherry Raspberry, and my sister very much enjoyed it.

I ordered a custard cup that had brownies and peanuts. I liked the custard, but there was an overabundance of peanut (which was an oversight on my part). My siblings and I enjoyed our custard, and although they do have tables and chairs indoors and out, we liked the fact that we could walk around Avondale while eating it. Nice location. There's a few tables to sit outside and that's what we chose to do because inside smelled like cleaning products. It was a bit overwhelming for me but atleast I know they were clean. Lol I thought there would be a sweet smell of waffle cones when I walked in but I'm pretty sure they don't make those in house. I got the turtle and it it did have tons of yummy caramel on the bottom of the bowl. They weren't stingy with the pecans either. I was just expecting more from the frozen custard itself. Maybe a bit more vanilla flavoring would've done the trick. Overall, it was tasty....
