Cold Beer Good Company that are worth a Detour
This small-town brewery is the kind of place you hope to find but rarely do—laid-back, welcoming, and full of character.
The beer lineup is solid: the golden ale is clean and easy-drinking, the porter smooth and roasty, and the sours hit just the right tart notes without going overboard. Nothing flashy—just well-crafted, satisfying brews. We arrived outside their limited grill hours, but they’re totally fine with guests bringing in outside food, which is a nice touch.
The space has that perfect barndominium charm—roofing tin, reclaimed lumber, and exposed brick that give it a rustic, warm feel without trying too hard.
And then there’s Kevin. He’s not a beer geek, just a down-to-earth, genuinely friendly guy who clearly cares about the place and the people in it. When things slowed down, he pulled up a chair and chatted with us like we were old friends. No rush, no fuss—just good conversation and true Southern hospitality.

Read moreMust have been an off night - I REALLY wanted to like this. Tuesday night and bingo. Had to wait about an hour to get a real table inside without bingo called over us (too loud!). It took about 30 minutes to get our appetizer - it was excellent - avocado eggrolls. Then we ordered dinner. It took about 45 minutes and when it arrived (pub burger and blackened tacos) we couldn’t eat them. The spice level was so high that it was not edible, especially to eat at 8:30pm. No one came to ask if we liked our dinners. My husband (nicknamed “Mikey”) can eat nearly anything. He couldn’t eat his dinner. I scraped off the cheese and sauce and the burger was still too zingy to eat. :( Can’t remember a time I didn’t eat dinner.
We ate potato wedges - they were quite good.
Tomorrow we’ll try...
