Nice open spaced restaurant. Great presentation of food and plates. I think having the windows that open into a patio make you feel like you aren't sitting in the middle of the city and busy street but somewhere else.
Wish I could give it a 5. I will give it another try soon to reassess. it was not busy for a Friday evening, but something was going on with the service although the waitress was so nice and smiley maybe they need a busboy to help with the basics right away. For some reason, the complimentary chips and salsa trio came after my two dishes I ordered. I also had to ask for water a few times..that's usually the first thing you get upon being seated at a restaurant. Maybe short staffed. Maybe they were backed up but but didn't seem too busy. there seemed to be 1-2 people observing and one looked like possibly a manager so I think he should've jumped in to help with the basics.
The food I ordered was the Pulpo a la Plancha and that gets a 5! It was so tender and the sauce it had was so flavorful. The only issue relates back to the service and something anther reviewer mentioned about food coming out lukewarm not hot...it must've been sitting out for a little while because it was not hot like off the grill but you could see the oil in the sauce was starting to cool off and almost congeal. I did come out quick I just believe the waitress was unable to get to it sooner to serve it warmer. I did eat the whole thing though.
Also a tostada mixta. Nicely topped. The cost is worth how packed it was with seafood toppings.
The sauces you should get up front are interesting and different, have good flavors but like some one else commented they seem bland... I don't think it's bland I think they are just missing a little something. Maybe a dash of salt. But I give them a 5 regardless because I'm just being picky here.
If the timing and food temperature (also timing) were slightly improved I would...
Read moreDo not go if you don’t speak Spanish or if you want to eat food. Drinks are worth it if you can communicate with them. Talking to them in English is like a Who’s on First routine. When I called for a reservation they hung up on me probably because I spoke English. Called back. He took the time and number of people but not my name?!?! I reminded him. Surprise- no reservation when we got there. However, only 3 tables were taken and that is not surprising when you try the food. My shrimp were dry and hard. It took me 5 minutes to try to peel off the shells. They were cooked on! I tried to figure out what kind of sauce the grilled shrimp came with and there wasn’t any. Just dried, hard grilled shrimp on the plate. I ordered a side of butter/garlic sauce and it was an extra $4 but I could stick them in there and they soften up a bit and had some flavor. My friend’s chicken was tough. We both agreed that the only good thing was the little salad we got on the plate. You can get that at home. Drinks were good but there was a huge gap between the server and us. I ordered a blue curaçao drink with bergamot ( where was that) and fruit juice and ‘pearls’. It came in a box with smoke coming out that stunk like an old cigar. The I told her to get it out of the box and get rid of the box. No clue what I was saying. My friend wanted it ‘without the smoke’. So she starts pointing out all the smoky drinks on the menu. We were there from 5 to 7:30 and the place was empty and no surprise. It had the atmosphere of...
Read moreWhen I arrived and was seated it took forever for a waitress to come to my table, yet the people who arrived right before me were helped immediately. The hostess attempted to be the messenger between the waitress and I because for some reason the waitress couldn’t come tend to me like every other waitress tended to the other guests(who were all Mexican) and when she finally arrived she wasn’t very welcoming. Then, I decided to go to the bathroom, when I came back my plate and everything on my table was completely gone— faster than I could blink. I was then informed that my food had been thrown away when I never paid or verbalized that I had finished, and that they thought I had left for the night, being the reason. I felt as though I was being rushed out of the restaurant. Also, In the midst of me realizing my food had been thrown out, the lady responsible who was bussing tables found the matter funny, as if it were intentional. Its very clear to me, being— literally, the only black person in the entire restaurant, that my presence was not welcomed and or cared for at all. They clearly don’t want a specific group of people dining at their establishment and it’s absolutely revolting. Take your money elsewhere if you want to be treated as equal because you will only be served cold discrimination here. Do better. Discrimination is terrible for...
