Café Touché in Chicago proved to be an absolute delight for my taste buds and a true testament to French culinary excellence. Nestled in a charming corner, the restaurant exudes an enchanting ambiance that transports you to the streets of Paris. The star of the show was undoubtedly the Steak Frites, and the impeccable service provided by our waitress, Sophie, added a personal touch that made our dining experience truly unforgettable.
Steak Frites - A Flawless Indulgence: The Steak Frites at Café Touché was a masterpiece that left me speechless. Cooked to perfection, the tender and succulent steak boasted a perfect sear, revealing a mouthwatering medium-rare center that melted in my mouth. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, with the chef's special seasoning enhancing the natural richness of the meat. The accompanying golden-crisp French fries, with just the right amount of saltiness, were the ideal complement to the dish. It's no wonder why the Steak Frites is a favorite among patrons and a definite must-try for all steak enthusiasts.
Sophie's Impeccable Service: Our dining experience was made all the more enjoyable by the exceptional service provided by Sophie, our attentive and friendly waitress. From the moment we were seated, Sophie greeted us with a warm smile and a genuine eagerness to make our evening special. She expertly navigated the menu, recommending dishes that perfectly matched our preferences. Her knowledge of French cuisine and her passion for the culinary arts were evident, and her recommendations never failed to impress. Throughout the evening, Sophie ensured that our glasses were refilled, and our every need was met with utmost care and attention. Her warmth and hospitality added an extra layer of joy to our dining experience, making us feel like cherished guests.
In addition to the Steak Frites, we indulged in other delectable dishes that showcased the diverse flavors of France. The Escargot, cooked to perfection in garlic butter, were a heavenly appetizer that transported us to the heart of Parisian cuisine. The Ratatouille Provençale was a celebration of fresh vegetables simmered to perfection in a delightful tomato sauce, boasting layers of aromatic herbs. Each dish was a testament to Café Touché's commitment to capturing the essence of French cuisine with authenticity and finesse.
In conclusion, Café Touché is an extraordinary culinary gem in Chicago that promises a French gastronomic adventure like no other. The Steak Frites, a divine symphony of flavors, and Sophie's impeccable service, made our visit truly special. Whether you seek a romantic dinner or a delightful gathering with friends, Café Touché is the perfect destination for a French-inspired culinary journey that will linger in your memory long after the last bite. Read moreA week ago, I posted the review shown below this ammended post. Subsequently, the owner of Cafe Touche contacted me, extending an apology and affirming their commitment to a higher standard of conduct in their establishments. This aligns with my longstanding experience as a regular customer.
It is my belief that the adage "the customer is always right" should guide interactions in service-oriented settings. Curiously, individuals associated with the mentioned server have taken the initiative to comment on my review through a business page I manage. Their comments express resentment and attribute blame to my review for the server's departure.
In evaluating such situations, it's essential for any business owner to discern between a well-balanced critique and an unsubstantiated claim. It underscores the importance of maintaining professionalism even in the face of differing opinions. I am confident that my review was balanced and factual, I assert that the server's dismissal, if indeed the case, cannot be attributed solely to one review.
I've decided to revise my star rating to a solid 4-5 stars based on the owner's prompt and considerate response to my review. I plan to return, appreciating the owner's commitment to addressing customer feedback.
For context, here is the original review:
I used to be a regular here and today put an end to my patronage due to service. Server number one cut off my guest mid sentence, assuming she knew what the guest was about to say, and said, “yeah, yeah, yeah, it’s all coming,” and darted away, which is not at all related to what the guest was about to say. We ordered drinks, one of which was a Ginger Beer on the Rocks with Lime. The drink came in a pint glass, warm, no ice no lime. No biggie, we handled it by getting ice and a lime from the bartender. Seriously, not a big deal. Server number two: quite charming, Server number two delivered one round of drinks to our table. It was time to go, I looked at the bill and it was $80. I left a $10 tip. The server came to the table and said, “Excuse me, but I thought we had a rapport. It’s customary to leave a 20% tip. Was there something wrong?” I immediately reached for more cash from my wallet, thinking I made a mistake. My guests stopped me and said, “Did that just happen? I would not give her any more. She brought one drink. You don’t tip on the bill plus the tax.” I put my money back in my wallet and left the tip as is. This was extremely awkward. As we were leaving my friend politely explained to the server that we paid the tip for the food and drinks. Not the food, drink, and tax. I think my friend said it best, “Never again.” We were all pretty blown away that we were approached in that manner. The...
Read moreGoogle said we came here five years ago. And I remember that clearly: it was for New Year's eve and I believe we did a prix fixe menu that was so good. The three of us enjoyed it thoroughly but we clearly had forgotten the place until this past weekend for my partner's birthday.
We decided to come here for brunch on a Sunday. And we were so pleasantly delighted. The service was top notch with a super attentive server who was patient (our party was 1/3 missing but that was my fault) and with antsy children who were hungry, he made the recommendation of the breakfast pizza (OMG so good).
When the family was united, we were ready to order. At the table were some super delicious chilaquiles, apple pancakes for the kiddos, and the Brennans New Orleans Eggs. Two of us had that and we were very happy with it. It was the right amount of taste and mess and juiciness. All good things mind you. The bacon was great and thick. I also ordered a side of sausages. These bite sized treats were joyful and went well with the other pigs in the plate. I might have overdone it with the sausage but it was worth it.
I wasn't in the mood for an adult beverage so I got a couple lattes. But others at the table had a mimosa and bloody mary. No complaints here! I would've ordered the Chicago 75. Even with gin (not a huge fan) it sounded super delicious and refreshing.
We really appreciated their table placement. With the doors all open on a 70° morning it was so nice to have the outside in. Made the atmosphere just that much better. Brunch is really laid back. Part of it might have been the Memorial Day holiday. But I will definitely want to come back for brunch another time. So many other things on the menu I know will be great.
Oh. Parking. We found free street parking but there are a couple...
