Java & Mug — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

Staff at this cafe are racist, I was there today and the staff was very rude. As I walked into the restaurant, the staff followed me to my sit then proceed to follow me as I went to the bathroom and insist that I ordered at that moment even though I explained that I would order soon just not at that moment. The staff then stated "this is a restaurant, not a library" after several times of me stating that I was going to order food just not at that moment. The staff was very aggressive and disrespectful to the point where another customer had to speak up against his actions. After the other customer spoke with the staff about his actions, I decided to leave the store due to the discrimination of the staff who never once asked the other customers to hurry up and order or disrespected them due to the color of their skin. There were several other customers there who did not order anything but were white and the staff didn't say anything to them.

I appreciate the response back. However your staff spoke perfect English and did understand what I was saying. He was very aggressive and used the proper English language. I didn’t state that I wasn’t going to order. I started I wasn’t ready to order because I had just sat down and wasn’t in the store for 5mins before your staff started bothering me. He was indeed being racist because as I stated before another customer had to call him out on the issue. And the other customer also left the store due to your staff disrespect and racist behavior towards me. Furthermore, your staff did not once ask anyone else in the restaurant to keep ordering food or following them around the store. Which is also why the other customer spoke up against your staff and also left the store. Once again I appreciate your reply however your staff needs to be addressed because he gives your company a bad name! You may not understand or care but racial profiling is a serious issue in the world that needs to be addressed and just saying it was a misunderstanding isn’t going to solve anything. Please reflect on...

Before I start I want to say the place is cozy and the food is good :) however idk what happened the first time I went there but it was the most uncomfortable experience I had at a cafe. To start off I walked in with my friend who's a regular and we wanted to get a 2 person table but all of them were occupied, all we could do is seat in the tables meant for 4 people. We sat down and put our order. I got ramen and a bubble tea and my friend got a sandwich. Here's when things started going bad. A large group comes and in the middle of our eating and me slurping away my noodles the manager comes up to us and says we have to move to let them seat! He didn't even ask he just said you have to move!! Like wth I've never had that ever happen in any restaurant even if it's one person taking up a 4 person table you don't do that, it's just rude. We went over to a smaller tight squeeze table and we finished our food. My friend tells me she needs to go use the restroom and I start getting my things ready in order to pay ( putting my books in my bookbag). As we both get up to do what we needed to do the girl working the register stops my friend walking to the bathroom and tells her that she needs to pay... who does that!!!! We had barely finished eating, the bathroom is near the register so it's not like she was heading to the exist. Maybe my experience was one in a million but omg did it leave me with a sour taste...

POOR QUALITY, BAD EXPERIENCE, UNPLEASANT I don’t know if it’s a racial thing but I use to come here with some friend a few times and I guess he knew me by face and every time I come he just gives me attitude after attitude to me and my friends. Today he was especially rude to us, giving us more attitude for buying something small a “house coffee” saying “are you guys going to buy anything else, are friends going to buy anything?” with a mean attitude, and face. He told me why I was moving from a table to another he said “can’t you and your friends just sit at your original table” I said “Another friend is coming to join us we need more space” He gave me a bad frown and said is “is he going to buy something?” I told him I don’t know I think so he said “Does he have money?” And I don’t know if it was because we payed the house coffee in dollars and a quarters and judged us base when my friend later came he right away ran and went up to him before he even sat down and handed him the menu after about a minute or two he asked if he was ready to order my friend said he wanted a mango smoothie with extra tapioca, he said regular tapioca?, my friend said no EXTRA TAPIOCA PERALS please the owner looked at him like my friend couldn’t afford it he payed the man in full point is don’t ever come to this place...
