I recently ordered from Kale My Name’s Chicago location for the first time, and unfortunately, my experience was overwhelmingly disappointing, both in terms of food quality and customer service.
I ordered the Chicago Burger, hoping for a fresh and flavorful plant-based meal. What I received, however, was the complete opposite. The burger arrived cold and soggy, the buns were not toasted, and the Beyond patty was clearly not cooked fresh, it was stale, chewy, and lacked any kind of appealing texture or flavor. It tasted like it had been sitting out and reheated, rather than made to order.
The French fries were equally concerning. They were cold, limp, and had inconsistent coloring, suggesting they were either fried in old grease or possibly refried after sitting out. This raised significant questions about the kitchen’s food handling practices, especially given how unappetizing and unsafe the food appeared.
Wanting to bring this to the restaurant’s attention, I called and spoke to a manager named Kevin. Rather than listening and addressing my concerns constructively, Kevin insinuated that I was not being truthful, claiming their fries are intentionally “extra crispy” and that “not everyone prefers that.” He also told me he watched the employee prepare the burger and insisted it was made correctly, which directly contradicts the poor condition in which it arrived.
When I asked legitimate follow-up questions like why the burger was cold and soggy, why the bun wasn’t toasted, and why the patty was stale, Kevin became increasingly defensive. He emphasized his position as manager for three years and claimed to have never had a problem before, a statement that doesn’t align with multiple online reviews I’ve since read that also mention inconsistent food quality and dismissive customer service.
This kind of response not only lacked professionalism but also reflected a lack of accountability and care for customer experience. When both the food and the follow-up are this poor, it’s clear that quality control and customer satisfaction are not priorities at this location.
This was my first time trying Kale My Name, and sadly, it left a strongly negative impression. Based on the subpar food quality, possible food safety concerns, and unhelpful customer service, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be ordering from here ever again.
This entire experience and lack of professionalism is a prime example of how a restaurant can go downhill when the wrong person (Kevin) is in a...
Read moreAll the stars goes to the food alone!! This is one of my favorite spots in Chicago if your looking for clean healthy & delicious dining then True Food kitchen is the place to be! We had a beautiful server by the name of Eva, whom as the time went on I could tell she was new. No shade! However, it almost went downhill for me when for the first time in the history of my dining here I open my white naked enclosed with my silverware only to find a dirty napkin. I did tell Eva about it whom apologized & asked me if I wanted her to get a new one, I simply responding no thank u because I’d gotten another from a nearby table. She did a good job as far as being friendly however, we eventually ordered tea & she rushed off to give us time to decide on which one & said she’d be right back. Meanwhile, I watched her cleaning tables & scurrying along. When she got back to the table she literally had our bill & then I reminded her about our tea: Matcha Horchata which you simply must try it hot!! It is so good! It’s good for you & like dessert in a cup! 😉 I felt a bit rushed frankly, but we took our time! Even as I’m sitting here writing ✍️ the review she just asked us if we wanted to order anything to go (because I’d gotten a menu only so I could tell you what all we ordered!! 😂) we responded no, thank you! And she replied,”I’m leaving the bill, no hurry take as much time as you need! The irony. I did believe her. 🤔 I’d give her 3 out of 5 stars I’m sure by the time you dine here she’ll be amazing this was her first day on the floor! For your recommendations, for starters we had the Edamame Guacamole 🥑, Charred Cauliflower & the Edamame Dumplings!!! SO GOOD!!! For entrees I ordered one of my favorite dishes here: Teriyaki Bowl and I added Salmon for protein thanks to Eva’s suggestion!! She’s a great salesman. My client had the Korean Noodle bowl!! Much success to the gorgeous Eva in her film education pursuits I am certain she’ll do very well! Success & progress to her & May God continue to bless & prosper this great restaurant!! ♥️ And kudos to Arye who helped her she brought out our entrees & our teas!! Special thanks goes out to Jacob whom was working a tables next to us!! This guy is great!! He helped us out twice! I noticed that on his table he asked his guest if they’d be having wine & upon their no response, he removed the wine glasses! Ours remained till the end! Come here & enjoy the dining, very clean restaurant...
Read moreWhat can I say about Kale My Name?? You have to try the food and the ambience for yourself but take my word on it, it's gewd-good!!! The atmosphere of the restaurant and people are the ambience and they feel like home. And as a person really trying to become vegan and not just vegetarian the food is great y'all. I don't feel heavy or guilty eating it and they have some good-great vegan food made from scratch. Their vegan cheese is soooooo good, chips are fresh and that guacamole is soo mmm ( I'm Hispanic and Black so I know good guacamole), cheese sticks, cauliflower, mac & cheese ball and these folks know how to actually cook vegetables (you're not constantly chewing to see the light 😂😂), salads and so much more. The prices are up there but still a good price especially compared to other restaurants and vegan places $20-$25 per person is cool.
I was also surprised by my sister-friend to their red carpet event last yr 2024 and the same professionalism was there but with a family oriented attitude of love right along with the spread of food they have. I hope to soon do the tea party with them. My friend said last night she wanted some of the rainbow cake (she said it's so delicious) now I need to try because I'm definitely a sweet head and prefer delicacy vs store process sweets and it's vegan so we get some benefits right 😂😂😂. I love this place and I do hope they open the backyard up again. I'm overdo for them. Sorry for the long rant but that's how I leave reviews so people truly understand what their getting (I'm to detail).
Kale My name crew if you read this can you open the backyard up again with the music please. I'm coming and thanks for coming to Chicago and staying, you...
