I wish I had sorted the reviews by Newest prior to coming here. I've always loved this place, since they were located on Diversey. While in the neighborhood, we stopped in to grab 4 tacos to go. The place was empty. Granted, it's been a while, but this place used to have a long line on the weekends. My lucky day. Guess I'm getting my food promptly? Guess again. Despite being the only customers, we still had to wait nearly 30 minutes for 4 tacos--even with the place fully staffed. I let it slide, as I understand things can happen, take out orders might also have to be prepared, etc. I also noticed the prices seemed a bit high, as it came out to over $20 just for 4 tacos (no rice or beans). I let that slide as well, as I understand that costs are rising, there's inflation, etc. Plus I don't mind paying a premium for good quality food. However, when we got home and opened the bag, I thought they might've forgotten an item or 2. Nope. These tacos are just extremely tiny. They are literally smaller than the palm of my hand. To add insult to injury, the meat was dry on all 4 of the options we had. Not sure if they were running low, but the tacos barely had any onions & cilantro on them either. The green salsa also tasted a bit off, kind of sweet like watermelon. Regardless of price, this place is certainly losing it's touch. It's sad to see, as I remember bringing friends here from out of town to try what I, at one point, considered to be the best tacos in Chicago. Unfortunately I think that will be the last time I visit here. I just want to share my experience, and I in no way mean any disrespect to the business, so I hope the owner doesn't give another sassy response where one is not needed...
Read more1-5, 5 being really good. Food Quality= 5 Food Flavor= 3 Food Cost= 3.5 Food Portion= 3
With all honesty, the quality of the food is what keeps me coming. Not the flavor, cost, or portions.
Steak: Quality is real good but poorly seasoned.
Chicken: They use chicken thigh instead of chicken breast. Which I prefer anyways, it could just use a little more seasoning.
If you don't like your tacos with cilantro and onions and you prefer lettuce and tomatoes, prepare yourself to pay .39 cents for any replacment topping. Yes, .39 cents for tomatoes and another .39 cents for lettuce. Thats .78 cents extra so that you don't eat a plain taco. Sounds like somthing petty to complain about but at $2.89 a taco along with an additional .78 cents for toppings, you're almost paying $4 a taco; let's be real, one single taco isn't serving justice! Two tacos will cost you more than their Burrito at $7.39 and their Tortas at $6.99 which comes with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and beans. Ok rant over....
They have a small fly problem, probably from sitting water left around. Nothing crazy, but it can be annoying when they're in your area while...
Read moreWent to this location for the 1st time, I was getting my brother in law a burrito which are his favorite from L'Patron. I waited 20 minutes for the burrito which is kind of annoying but understandable considering how busy they were. I finally reached my limit when I kept seeing people that came well after me leave with food. I finally went to the counter to have the employees realize they gave my burrito away. I understand that mistakes happen, but what really bugged me was nobody said anything to apologize or admit fault. Then, the girl at the counter who practically threw napkins at the customer in front of me (in a nice way, as if she forgot to give them to him) and didn't give me any napkins, when I asked for some it seemed as if she was annoyed in my having asked her. 1st impression people, it takes a few bad times even in customer service to have people NOT wanting to go back. I was truly disappointed because I really wanted to like them since they're just down the street now. Maybe I'll give them...
