Wyler road was, at first, an overlooked corner restaurant near my Logan Square apartment. It is no longer taken for granted.
The restaurant is trendy and cozy, with outside seating in the sun and in a mini-garage out back, which is pleasant and fun. The wait staff are generally conversational, inviting, and funky in dress; the bar staff is attentive, on-point, and skilled at their job; and the kitchen staff are obviously very hard-working, creative, and often friendly as well (if you are so lucky to sit at the counter you might get to engage with them).
Other stars of the show here are the food and drinks. I've had brunch and lunch at this restaurant and both were excellent experiences. I had the "waffle sandwich" for brunch which was exceptional in presentation and flavor. Confusingly, it came with a side salad with balsamic or chips rather than another breakfast style side, but oh well. For lunch, I HIGHLY recommend the burger. It's perfectly cooked, super juicy, and the toppings are fabulous! It should also be noted that nearly everything on their menu can be made vegetarian and/or vegan to some extent, which is cool if you're into that.
Drinks are also super well done here. The bourbon mule is crazy good, with ginger liquor that makes it absolutely refreshing and addicting. The whiskey sour old fashion is also a must have if you are into whiskey forward drinks. I haven't had many of their other cocktails, but I'd bet their equally as delightful.
Next time you are in the area of Logan Square, where it's easy to be bowled over by the multitude of restaurant options, give this place a solid try. They might just blow you...
Read moreDecided to grab a sandwich here since they have gluten free bread. Ordered online to ensure my dietary restrictions were visible. I ordered the steak sandwich on gf bread with no cheese.
I arrived and decided to check my sandwich; there was cheese on it. The guy at the bar was really really nice, but when he told the chef, he made it very clear he wasn’t “pleased” to remake the sandwich stating “now I have to cut more prime rib” huff puff huff puff
The sandwich (aside from the cheese) was supposed to come with balsamic shallots and Dijonaise. After my sandwich was ready, I drove home to discover that it was literally just steak (no shallots or dijonaise) sandwiched between the greasiest bread. It was basically inedible. I paid $22 for the worst sandwich I’ve ever had.
This happened about a month & a half ago, but it still upsets me to think how annoyed the chef was when he had to remake the sandwich when my substitutions were clearly marked on the ticket and in return, made an even worse...
Read moreThis place is stellar. I eneded up coming here to try the clam belly sandwich and it was fantastic. The only complaint that I had about the sandwich is I wish it were a little bit less bread. It would have been much better if they hallowed out the middle a bit as is done with Louisiana Po' boys. The somewhat delicate flavors of the clams get a little lost with the hearty bread, the tangy aoli and the much welcomed crispy bacon.
All of the sandwiches come with chips standard, I would like it as welll if they allowed you to substitute one of their other sides (even for a charge over the chips). That aside the chips were quite tasty as well. They were nice and crispy and even though I went for the spicy chips, they barely regisitered on the heat scale for me.
The beer and cocktail selections make this place live up to all that Logan Square...
