La Michoacana Chicago — Restaurant in Jefferson Township

The food was good, BUT the environment and what was allowed to go on inside the establishment is what ruined the overall experience. I visited this location on a weekday around when the nearby school was let out, the line was understandably long but that wasn’t the problem.. many of the teenagers inside were smoking vapes of all kind leaving clouds of smoke while my children and others were present. I believe this is a health violation and illegal. Not once did a worker intervene which was unbelievable.

The Chicago Clean Indoor Air Act prohibits smoking, including vaping, in virtually all enclosed public places and places of employment, This includes bars, restaurants, and other enclosed spaces, as well as within 15 feet of entrances, windows, and ventilation intakes of these places, according to Public Health Law Center.

My wife and I attempted to visit this location. Wednesday 12/11/24 at 4:51pm just to find all of the flashing “open” signs on and people inside and in line but both doors locked. One of the doors had a red wire clamped on the handles to keep the door shut. Posted hours say “open till 11pm”. The employee and the 4-5 customers in there just stared at us while we were outside in the cold/wind.

I’m sorry but I have no respect for businesses that cannot abide by their posted hours. I get that emergencies happen, but that’s your job as an owner/manager to find someone to cover the shift etc. had to 1 star review this for wasting my time and my wife’s time attempting to visit this location.
