We were their first customers! We tried out some of their appetizers, a seafood boil and the honey cake. For the appetizers, the fries were really crispy and hot, and the ketchup was nice and chilled to pair with it. The grilled calamari was cooked well, and we liked the vegetables they paired with it. Just our personal opinion, we love spice and would’ve liked a spicier sauce for the calamari, but it was still good and garlicky. The two crabby seafood boil was pretty good. We had a few more critiques on this one. We are from the south, so we are used to sauces that have a stronger mix of powdered spices that create thicker consistencies that stick to the shells. I think this one was more oily than we are used to, so we had to really scoop up the garlic to hold the flavor to the shrimp and crab. The honey cake was super good. We are not into sweets, so this was a good balance of sweet for us where we still were able to finish the whole thing. Overall, the food was a 4 out 5. Would for sure come again to try many other things! The service was a 5 out of 5! They were super sweet and very attentive to whatever we needed. Since we were the first ones in, they were setting up a bit still, but they turned on music and everything after a bit and it was very cute in there. I...
Read morevery subpar seafood boil and food experience overall. unfortunately the service was kind of rough as well. when ordering I asked for a LaCroix and the server wrote it down, then a person I was with also ordered a LaCroix and he told them they were all out of stock. Leaving me confused as to why he said ok and wrote down my drink order? Additionally, I asked him if they used minced garlic or garlic powder for their garlic fries and he told me powder. When the fries were brought out my garlic fries were piled with a mound of wet minced garlic lol. It was just too many little things like this that just made the experience fall flat. We also had to flag down the server by waving our hands to get drinks and more water because he was too busy sitting on his phone. It took about an hour to get our check after finishing eating because of the lack of service and noticed the people wrapping up their meal before had to walk up to him to ask for their check.
I really was expecting more because of how high the rating was and wish it was better. im honestly not sure how this place has almost five stars.. it’s either hired bots or family members?? do they delete the bad ratings?? I don’t think I’d come back...
Read moreLet me start with, the food was excellent! I'm big on cajun boils and this is by far the most flavorful in Chicago area. I've had it in Louisiana and Texas and the flavors are very close to authentic. It was so good I had to take some garlic fried rice to go in addition to the huge order we ate at the restaurant. The ambiance is clean and modern, the service was a little slow but always courteous. It seems like a new joint so they're still figuring out some parts of the service but they were very polite even though our orders might have been a little confusing.
This will be my new go to cajun boil place in Chicago and next time I'll try to take a picture of the restaurant instead of going crazy over the food. We ordered garlic fried rice, king crab boil, snow crab boils, shrimps, a couple of drinks and we might have repeated the garlic fried rice 3,4 times in one sitting. All the boils in 3 sauce option
Couple of friendly recommendations to the restaurant: Having a bucket for shells would be great and if they cut up the sausage it might...
