I am a little saddened to have to write this review about this restaurant. I have been going to Savanna on Lincoln since 2019. Always loved their food and service. One of the top breakfast joints around. That is why when this location opened, I was ecstatic!! I have lived a block away from this location for the past 40 years. The space that this new location has now occupied has been a revolving door of failing restaurants. My hope when Savanna moved into the space was that they can remain for all future years to come as there are not many breakfast options around this neighborhood. Unfortunately, there were many red flags when I dined today. They had a sign outside that said buy 1 and get 1 free coffee but when we tried to order that special, we were told that it is only good on Monday-Friday for takeout orders. That was not disclosed on the big sign outside of the restaurant. There was a handwritten note on the front of the restaurant saying that they can open and close whenever they choose and that the hours of operations will not always be honored. Then there was another sign on the door that said that if you pay your bill in cash they will offer a 3% discount off of your bill. We dined and got the bill. All the prices on our bill were higher than the cost as advertised in the menu. When we asked the waitress about it, she said it was because they charge 3% for people paying with credit cards. However, we were paying cash and the prices on my bill were more than the 3% they claimed they are charging.
Legally, they are not allowed to charge a price other than the one they are advertising. So if my turkey burger is $14.00 it should say $14.00 on my bill. If there is a surcharge for cc payments, then if and only if the customer pulls out a cc, then the waitstaff should inform them that there is a 3% surcharge of the entire bill. Lastly, do not tell people they will get a discount if you are going to charge them the price you are advertising. A discount is when you charge less that what the...
Read moreI woke up this morning and wanted to try someplace new. Unfortunately, we decided on this place. When we arrived it was full, not packed, and we were seated immediately. While this is a good thing it should have been cause for concern because it was around 10am on a Sunday. Usually, there is at least a wait to be seated at that time if the restaurant is good.
Anyway, moving on. We got seated and waited over 15 minutes before anyone came to the table to greet us. I could see that there appeared to be one server covering the entire restaurant both inside and out. There were two additional staff members milling about and getting in the way of the one actually working. Additionally, there was a busboy that was really hustling and was the only good part of the experience.
One employee appeared to be an owner or manager of some sort but did nothing but walk around and hover by the doorway. This was especially annoying as I was sitting by the door and he was at my shoulder almost the entire time.
I ordered iced coffee and my wife got a pink lemonade. The iced coffee was basic but my wife said it was the best lemonade she had ever had. For food, I had the sausage gravy and biscuit combo and my wife had pancakes. Both came with eggs and bacon.
The food arrived cold. The eggs were not scrambled as we both requested but were little tasteless, flat disks. The bacon was dried out. The pancakes were dry and didn't have butter. The biscuits were just edible. No one stopped by to check how our food was nor did anyone seem to care that we sent back mostly full plates.
I could continue going on about how bad this experience was but I've already written a wall. The last thing I will say is that I saw a lot of unhappy faces in the restaurant besides ours as people waited for slow service and possibly cold food (mine was, can't speak...
Read moreWow wow wow! What a fabulous experience! I was looking for a place to study and this was absolutely perfect. First of they have a beautiful restaurant with giant windows which they opened so it feels like I was outside even though i was sitting inside. Each table has flowers on them and the overall feel of the restaurant is comfortable and friendly. The waitress Paula, and bartender, Anderson, where impeccable. Paula checked on me multiple times and when I asked to custom make an omelet she did it without a problem. Anderson came by a few times too, to check on me as well as other tables at the restaurant. The food (custom Greek omelet with chicken and ham) was very tasty and the fruit bowl that comes as a side was perfect. Thank you chefs Lulu and Willy. Finally, the peach ice tea was beyond belief. I love ice tea and have never tasted anything this great. Since it wasn't too busy during mid morning I asked if I could stay and study after I was done with my meal and Anderson and Paula were so kind to let me stay. I found out the owner's name is Luis and I want to say a special thank you to him for opening Savanna in my neighborhood. I will definitely be back soon! Thank you everyone who made my Tuesday morning...
