Review of Sabe a Zulia – A Taste of Venezuela Worth Trying

I want to start off by saying—don’t get discouraged by the challenging parking situation. It can be a hassle, but trust me, the food is well worth the effort.

We kicked things off with the empanada de carne mechada, and I have to say, they were absolutely on point. The taste and texture were spot on, with a perfectly fried exterior and generous filling proportions. This dish earns a solid 8.9/10 in my book.

Next up were the tequeños, which, unfortunately, fell a bit short of expectations. It seemed like they were taken out of the oven too soon—the dough felt undercooked, and the cheese wasn’t fully melted. I believe just a couple more minutes in the oven would have made a big difference. This time around, they rated a 5/10, but I’d be willing to give them another shot.

The Super Arepa was another standout item. The portion size was incredible—honestly, it’s hard to imagine anyone finishing one in a single sitting. Flavor-wise, it was excellent, earning a respectable 8.6/10.

Moving on to the churrasco, this dish was a bit of a letdown. The steak lacked seasoning and was rather bland, making it hard to justify the price. I’d recommend steering clear of this one, as it just doesn’t deliver the best value. My rating: 6.3/10.

As for the Parrillada Sabe a Zulia, it had its ups and downs. While everything was well-seasoned, the steak, pork, and chicken were all overcooked and ended up dry. The chorizo, however, was spot on and packed with flavor. Overall, I’d give it a 7.9/10.

Despite a few misses, I would definitely recommend making a point to visit Sabe a Zulia and giving them a try. Their empanadas rank among the top three I’ve ever had, and there’s plenty of potential for an amazing meal if you...

This place was great, I don’t know what some of the reviewers are complaining about! I always like to try Venezuelan food whenever I have the chance to. I tried numerous little items from this place, including the mandocas or corn fritters, pastelitos de queso or cheese pastelitos, and the shredded beef empanada.

Everything was really quite good flavor wise, very cheap, and overall just gave a nice street food kind of vibe. The corn fritters were really good. Fried crispy on the outside and a bit oily, but not in a bad way. They were surprisingly quite sweet and fluffy in the inside. Cheap and delicious.

The beef empanada came in a large portion, and I really enjoyed it. The beef was well seasoned, flavorful, and had a fantastic texture. It wasn’t too bready. I loved the green and slightly creamy sauce they served with the empanada. Great.

The cheese pastelitos were probably my least favorite of the few items I tried, I thought they weren’t all that flavorful, but definitely weren’t bad by any means. Filling was decent with a good amount of cheese, but just not a ton of flavor to them.

All in all, a very nice place to get street food type of items and more substantial items too, like cachapas and arepas. I’d definitely...

Family atmosphere, a good place to go and experience some of regional Venezuelan food. The tequeños were on point, and the chicken soup was delicious. I had the picada; although it is advertised for two, three can eat. The hamburger was super delicious. The service was excellent, and the waitresses were always smiling. I would definitely go back to try different dishes. The only thing and the reason I only give a total of 4 stars, is parking. Looking for parking to go to the restaurant is horrible, very busy street (Fullerton), with very little parking, so if you are bringing someone with a mobility disability, keep in mind, it is hard to find parking in that area. The food was extra good and worth looking...

I visited this restaurant and I admit that the food is delicious, I just want to share my point of view and my negative experience, because I ordered a patacĂłn with shredded meat, and I asked the waitress if I could please have half shredded meat and half chicken mechado to try them both, she told me yes and that there was no additional cost, when I received my bill I see that they have charged me extra meat and chicken when I never requested anything extra and I was clear with the waitress, and since I ordered my gratin patacĂłn, a price that if it is specified on the menu, I ended up paying with the extras that the waitress charged 26.99 dollars for a patacĂłn, the cost seems exaggerated to me, because in the short version it cost 13.99, plus the gratin 4.99, and it is good that the The food is delicious but they scare away customers by charging more and without getting the extras and without having requested them.
