Review of Sabe a Zulia â A Taste of Venezuela Worth Trying
I want to start off by sayingâdonât get discouraged by the challenging parking situation. It can be a hassle, but trust me, the food is well worth the effort.
We kicked things off with the empanada de carne mechada, and I have to say, they were absolutely on point. The taste and texture were spot on, with a perfectly fried exterior and generous filling proportions. This dish earns a solid 8.9/10 in my book.
Next up were the tequeños, which, unfortunately, fell a bit short of expectations. It seemed like they were taken out of the oven too soonâthe dough felt undercooked, and the cheese wasnât fully melted. I believe just a couple more minutes in the oven would have made a big difference. This time around, they rated a 5/10, but Iâd be willing to give them another shot.
The Super Arepa was another standout item. The portion size was incredibleâhonestly, itâs hard to imagine anyone finishing one in a single sitting. Flavor-wise, it was excellent, earning a respectable 8.6/10.
Moving on to the churrasco, this dish was a bit of a letdown. The steak lacked seasoning and was rather bland, making it hard to justify the price. Iâd recommend steering clear of this one, as it just doesnât deliver the best value. My rating: 6.3/10.
As for the Parrillada Sabe a Zulia, it had its ups and downs. While everything was well-seasoned, the steak, pork, and chicken were all overcooked and ended up dry. The chorizo, however, was spot on and packed with flavor. Overall, Iâd give it a 7.9/10.
Despite a few misses, I would definitely recommend making a point to visit Sabe a Zulia and giving them a try. Their empanadas rank among the top three Iâve ever had, and thereâs plenty of potential for an amazing meal if you...
Read moreThis place was great, I donât know what some of the reviewers are complaining about! I always like to try Venezuelan food whenever I have the chance to. I tried numerous little items from this place, including the mandocas or corn fritters, pastelitos de queso or cheese pastelitos, and the shredded beef empanada.
Everything was really quite good flavor wise, very cheap, and overall just gave a nice street food kind of vibe. The corn fritters were really good. Fried crispy on the outside and a bit oily, but not in a bad way. They were surprisingly quite sweet and fluffy in the inside. Cheap and delicious.
The beef empanada came in a large portion, and I really enjoyed it. The beef was well seasoned, flavorful, and had a fantastic texture. It wasnât too bready. I loved the green and slightly creamy sauce they served with the empanada. Great.
The cheese pastelitos were probably my least favorite of the few items I tried, I thought they werenât all that flavorful, but definitely werenât bad by any means. Filling was decent with a good amount of cheese, but just not a ton of flavor to them.
All in all, a very nice place to get street food type of items and more substantial items too, like cachapas and arepas. Iâd definitely...
Read moreFamily atmosphere, a good place to go and experience some of regional Venezuelan food. The tequeños were on point, and the chicken soup was delicious. I had the picada; although it is advertised for two, three can eat. The hamburger was super delicious. The service was excellent, and the waitresses were always smiling. I would definitely go back to try different dishes. The only thing and the reason I only give a total of 4 stars, is parking. Looking for parking to go to the restaurant is horrible, very busy street (Fullerton), with very little parking, so if you are bringing someone with a mobility disability, keep in mind, it is hard to find parking in that area. The food was extra good and worth looking...
