I recently discovered this hidden gem in the Portage Park area, and let me just say, I had no idea what I was missing! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the relaxed and inviting vibe of Sutherlands. The drinks and food were not only delicious, but also surprisingly affordable.

Lively for a Monday night. Came in for dinner and drinks. . Started with Hummus. Lots of veggies cut up and plated nicely except the hummus was very little( they should give you a larger helping of humus for the amount of veggies they serve) .. wont be ordering that again. Ordered steak salad and sutherland burger. Burger was good, juicy and flavorful. Salad was good but steak was already cold, had to send it back .. they made a new steak and it was very tender. Maybe we'll order it again. Tots are tots, these were crispy and just right! Service, we had to ask for water refills- not good. Drinks we good but bartender was mediocre, not too attentive to find out if we were good or wanted another drink. May not go back by just that alone. Seating was good, outdoor patio looked fun, but if the service on the inside lacked. I'd hate to have found out what it was like on the outside.... 🤔 maybe we'll go back and give it a 2nd chance... but then again, this was on a Monday night, imagine during their ' busy ' times..... we'll see.stay tuned.. didn't even take pictures that's how...

I've updated my original review after coming here since it opened in hopes someone in management will see this.

Our server tonight was very rude. She misheard part of our order. I didn't say anything about the wrong item being delivered to us, but she overheard and proceeded to tell me I was wrong with a snarky attitude. She then told us she'd bring us the correct item to which I replied "it's ok, we're good".

Minutes later she came back a threw the cheese curds on our table and walked away.

It wasn't busy, but she proceeded to check on every customer twice before coming back to our table to see if we needed anything else.

I was planning on staying for a few drinks after dinner, but after the way we were treated, we decided to not finish our meal and take it to go. Really disappointed since I've been a regular customer since Sutherlands opened and have had nothing but a great experience before tonight. Not sure I'm coming back anytime soon or at least when I know this server is...
