In a word, fine.
We were heartbroken when El Habanero closed and surprised to see something new was coming in so quickly.
Husband tried Taco City first. He got some tacos and said it was ok, but no El Habanero. I was in need of some dinner and popped in for carry out. I ordered the nachos without meat or sour cream. The cashier was clearly new, but staff was friendly. When I asked about salsas, they said they had three kinds - red, green and house. The red wasn't very red (I'm assuming it's the red) and the house was very orange like it had a lot of habanero in it, but it wasn't that hot.
The nachos were kind of a hot mess. There was tons of melted cheese and beans on them. Too much and this is someone who loves both. It felt like the cheese formed a protective helmet over the rest of the nachos. The beans on the bottom made most of the chips soggy. The guac on top was fine, I couldn't tell if it had spinach in it or a lot of cilantro (cilantro haters, you've been warned).
I'll go back and give it another shot, but it doesn't hold a candle to El Habanero...
Read moreWelcome to the neighborhood Taco City! We needed you! We ordered the 3 taco dinner & the flauta dinner we & couldn’t select multiple arrachera tacos so we got one arrachera, one chorizo & one fried tilapia taco. Gotta be a glitch for online ordering because we would’ve preferred 3 arrachera tacos. I Tried the tilapia taco & was very impressed -it’s delicious. The rice & beans were excellent. The flauta dinner was excellent. They were fried to perfection, crispy & the meat inside was tender & flavorful. 10/10 The guacamole on top was a lil too tomatoey but still delicious. We also tried all 3 of the salsas & they are excellent. The price point for our meals was good. The people working there were kind. The restaurant was very clean. I highly recommend Taco city & it was an...
Read moreEach time I have dined here I have been impressed at the quality of the food, and the value for the price. The homemade salsas are absolutely delicious, with the perfect amount of spice. The tacos are filled well, and taste amazing. I've tried the al pastor, shrimp, steak, and both grilled and fried tilapia tacos and recommend them all! I was considering getting the taco dinner which came with beans and rice, but ultimately decided on just three tacos and glad I did, they were quite filling and it was the perfect amount of food. I think this might be my new favorite neighborhood taco spot in Logan Square! 🌮 Total bill for the three tacos and a medium horchata was about...
