I regretted doing this review just because of the great customer service and hospitality by all of the staff when I came to this establishment this Saturday. But I have to say I was so disappointed in the food. I got the whole chicken dinner that came with 3 large sides and it was under $40 which was an amazing price for all the food that gave. I must admit the portions were so big. I thought leaving out I came up on a great deal. The sides to me were like an extra large it was so much. Well until I got home and tasted the food. So disappointed I have to admit. Everything I mean Everything was so bland. The sides I got was red beans and rice which was unclear Ben's from the box mixture. Cabbage which was so under seasoned and their rasta pasta which was very bland as well. As for the jerk chicken it definitely was not off the grill and was definitely baked in the oven. I didn't really taste that authentic jerk off the grill flavor at all. I should have known because I didn't smell that grill smoke when I entered as you do most jerk restaurants. Then the jerk sauce was very watery but flavor was not that bad but I hate watery jerk sauce. I will definitely not ever be going back. I literally still have so much food left and everyone that taste it refuse to eat it. I can't even give it away. I literally only gave 2 stars because of the great customer service I received. Otherwise I would...
Read moreThere must have been some changes here in the kitchen since they first opened. I realize there’s a little more fusion here, but the flavor in the food has dissipated over the past couple of years they’ve been open. You used to smell the jerk and the smoke when you walked in. Now you don’t, and the food reflects it as the chicken was dryer, with no smoky flavor, and seasoning was very light. And I get home to find that they forgot to put any of the jerk sauce we requested in the bag, so with the lack of flavor, I had to drive back to the restaurant and get it. A jerk restaurant that forgets to give you jerk sauce? There were no apologies provided at the register. Not to mention, the young lady who originally took my phone order was rude, leaving the phone a few times to argue with the kitchen staff - and at one point her phone even died while she was having other conversations and dropped me.
I love the idea of fusion, but even the fried rice has gone down in quality, as it was dry and crumbly tonight, and also lacked flavor. If you’ve had authentic jerk from the real Jamaican spots around the west and south sides, you’ll quickly find this place to be subpar. Too bad, because I was really looking forward to them coming to the neighborhood, but the quality has just gone downhill quickly since they...
Read moreThe moment I walked in, I received a warm greetings. I love hospitality! I was an hour from home and looked up jerk chicken on maps, for the ride back. I was so happy to hear this placed just opened this March. I pray they do very well.
Food: I went on a Sunday afternoon with my daughter. I ordered the Jerk dark 1/2, with jeek sauce, with macaroni and cheese, red beans and rice with gravy and cabbage! Each ingredient was Bursting with flavor! Oh and a side a fries! All fries are NOT created equal. Not all fries are good, but THESE. YES MA'AM! Perfect macaroni and cheese; noodles not over cooked. Same for rice, not over cooked. The moment I walked out I realized I should have added yams (and I don't like yams lol).
Ambiance / atmosphere: The place is clean, beautiful colors. Large screens show the menu. They also cater. Beautiful pictures and the menu and food. All the food is already cooked ahead of time. Gives a buffet vibe. This speaks volume about the cook and how the food keeps warm and doesn't continue to cook at the same time. Wow! Meets are placed on your plate last from the kitchen. I love thus place.
Seating: There are high seats with tables in the entrance and booths that spread to the back. So cute!!
I keep wait to go back. You...
