Terrible service, received no food, and no refund. Do not recommend.

Ordered and paid for take out food. Lady we placed the order with and paid was pretty rude, but we still left a tip. Waited in line for 20 minutes for food ( 2 sandwiches). After serving 4-5 tickets up to 3-4 in front of us, the person at pickup counter then announced that they had no idea of what had been ordered for the next customers in line. He was pretty apologetic. They had not been given the food order because apparently the person taking the orders had not printed out the most recent food orders and given them to the kitchen before leaving for the day. Asked for what people had ordered. We gave them our order again, and asked how long it would be before we got our food (flight boarding in less than 20 minutes at this point). Person behind counter told us they had no idea, but couldn't guarantee would be within 20 minutes. Told us to go back to bar to get refund. Went to bar, person behind bar told us only the manager could issue refunds. Asked for manager, person behind bar told us manager was not available. We asked when manager would be available, was told no idea. Asked how we were supposed to get our money refunded, and he said it wasn't his problem. Asked person behind bar if they could contact manager to ask them to come and give us refund, and said they had no way of contacting manager. Extremely rude. Completely unacceptable level of service, but could not wait around for purported manager to appear because by then our flight was boarding and we had to leave to get to the gate. Essentially this restaurant stole from us, by charging us, not providing take out food in a reasonable time frame, then refusing to refund our money. DO NOT BUY FOOD FROM...

Out the gate i was expecting alot… which is maybe a little unfair to Mr. Rick Bayless. I am a huge fan if his show and everything he produces during the magic of television looks amazing!

This time during my trip to Chicago i decided to give his airport stop Restuarant a try. Going in I knew it would be overpriced (airport cost, high traffic = high leases + tax) so i tried to set my expectations accordingly.

I ordered one of his chicken sandwiches which looks tasty as heck in the photo and from the it’ description (pic included).

I expected tastiness and flavor. I got it. What i wasn’t expecting was to pay $17 for a smallish sandwich another $10 for a can of beer (all in $27 bucks) and a wait time of nearly 20 minutes for the food. Now ill give them the benefit of the doubt b/c after a while of a small crowd of ppl waiting for their food starting to pile up…(both pilots and travelers) they started handing out bags as i overheard many ppl getting worried and telling ea. other they would grab and go instead of eat there. Food good. Overall experience not so great. I had to hurry up and wolf my food down and shotgun my beer as your bot allowed to go running through the airport with an open container outside the food area. Finally they got a manager to come over and help assemble, hand out and yell out orders to be picked up. Its hard to enjoy food when you have to eat it faster than you can taste it then run through an airport to make you flight in time, worrying all the way. $30 bucks for a sandwich and small beer that i didn’t even get to enjoy. I only enjoyed my first bite and swig of beer, after that checked my phone for time and thus began my panic race.

Maybe next time Mr. Rick Bayless…...

This place probably has the best tasting food I've ever had at an airport, but it is overpriced for what you get. Cost was over $20 with for one sandwich and a drink, before tax.

Food: I've been here twice, four years ago and again this year. The salad I had the first time doesn't seem on the menu anymore, and they only have a cobb salad now. I tried the Cubana tortas this time. It was very flavorful and tender with good bread, but there is very very little pork or much of any ingredients except sauce. There isn't much avocado when you pay $3 for extra either so I can't imagine how much you get as a regular amount. I also had the Jamaica agua fresca, which was tart and refreshing.

Service: Be sure you have plenty of time before your flight though. You'll have to be prepared for a 15+ minute wait here. I remember waiting an extremely long time the first time I went here and this time, it took 15 minutes from the time I placed my order, not counting the time it took to place the order.

Seating: They have a few bar seats here, but you'll have a better chance of finding a seat at the nearby food court, right in front of it.

Final thoughts: The quantity is the only reason I can't give this place five stars. Nevertheless, it's a good choice if you are looking for something delicious rather than value for your money. Sometimes, you just don't want airport food at...
