China Garden — Restaurant in Jefferson

I have always liked china garden but this will be last time patronize their business..... If you know this place, the food is good but the service and delivery times are among the WORST in the industry. Tonight I placed an order at 5:32 (she corrected me when I said I placed it at 5:30) and was told my food would be delivered in 45-55 minutes.... it was not. I called to see where my order was at 6:48 and was told they needed another 20-30 minutes. So I asked the young girl on the phone to speak to the manager, instead she offered me 10% off my next order. I explained to her that a 2 hour delivery time was not going to earn them a next order and again asked her to speak with a manager. She claimed she was the manager, so I asked to speak to the owner, she claimed she was the owner and that I could wait on the order or cancel it. I was appalled at her level of disrespect when there’s only so many people in the small of Jefferson that is your customer base, you should really try harder then a snotty little teenager attitude when YOU screwed up. So I hung up out of frustration.

I called back at 7:36, because we still had no food, only to be told that she canceled my order. I asked if she thought that was the professional thing to do and at the very least not give us a call stating she was canceling the order so my family would not be sitting here hungry still waiting on food that wasn’t coming. Her response “I don’t have to call. I cancel your order. That’s your problem.” ...... so I said I would be up there the following day to speak to her boss and hung up. I thought it was over, but she proceeded to call me back 3 times asking me what I needed to talk about and to say it in the phone. Well, sounds to me like someone afraid of losing their job and wanting to stop me from coming and talking to the REAL owner. I’m done...

This was my first experience with China Garden in Jefferson, I ordered a takeout order for me and my wife, at approximately 6pm on a Sunday. 1st the person taking the order was nice and polite as was the person that brought me my order. It was packaged perfectly and the order was 100% correct and hot. Unfortunately that’s the extent of positive portion of my meal/experience. I ordered beef lo mein and the noodles were the size of between spaghetti and Angel hair but all in all the dish was good/ok. My wife ordered General Tao’s Chicken and it was not spicy in the least and the breading was really thick. The egg rolls were small but were just ok. I ordered hot and sour soup and it was hot and looked like hot and sour soup but did not taste anything like H&S soup and the taste was mild what ever it was, I did not eat it. My wife had the egg drop soup and it was just ok and wontons were stale. We ordered sweet and sour sauce for the egg rolls, we actually ordered extra egg rolls and extra s& s sauce the first container of sauce (small containers) was fine but the second was the consistency of really thick pudding. This was my first visit. I live in Athens, but run a local business so stopped by on my way out of town. i got 3 entrees to go. The lo mein was meh..it was more spaghetti like and varely any sauce or meat but tasty so ok. the moogoogaipan was great. i ordered a massaman curry, which per the online mebu had potato and onion in massaman curry paste. i order this everywhere i go. but what i got this time was NOT massaman. it had green peppers, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, onions, water chestnut and green bean ...also. the curry was red. it was not a massaman. i called to explain that this was not what was on the menu and i dont like any of those things, i was passed to a manager (i was not being ugly. i dont do that.) the manager made me explain again, and then proceeded to argue with me and say it was how they had always done it. went on about how theyve done it that way 4 or 5 yrs etc. all u wanted was a refund or my meal replaced bc the menu online was wrong, and ultimately thw food was also. this manager lost a customer and got a negative review all because he couldnt own a mistake on a 7 dollar meal....
