I don't normally leave bad reviews but in this case I have no choice. Iron Pig used to be a very good BBQ place in my opinion 2 years ago. Since then I have gone there at least 5 or 6 times for their brisket or ribs but they are always out of those and other menu items too. All they tell me is, "Well, all we have left today is chicken" or on another day "we only have pulled pork." I gave up on this place almost a year ago. Well, I was in Jefferson today and was hungry so I tried to give them 1 more chance. Guess what nothing has changed, "Sorry sir we are out of everything but pulled pork". I told them that I can get a pulled pork sandwich at my local gas station. They said nothing back to me and just shut the cashier's window.
During Co-Vid I know all restaurants had supply issues but in 2023 still the same issues, really. Either I am the most unlucky customer in Jefferson or this place is very poorly managed. I don't see how Iron Pig is still in business. I saw on their window that they didn't get a high rating on their last GA health inspection (82 B). That tells me lot. Iron Pig is the only BBQ place in Jefferson, they need to take advantage of this fact and run it well, not into the ground. I have tried to give Iron Pig my business in these last 6 or 7 times but it's always the same. "Sorry sir, we ran out of that, oh we are out of that too." I hope another BBQ place opens up nearby soon to send Iron Pig packing. At least maybe with this prospective new place I won't always have to walk away...
Read moreLet me start off by saying, I really want this place to succeed. Like most comments, GREAT PRICE! Amazing location! I ordered 3 sliders and a side of coleslaw. Also like other reviews, their pulled pork is very well done. The bread on the other hand wasn't very good, regular dry white enriched bread. I think if they changed their slider bread to either Hawaiian rolls or potatoes rolls it would add to the flavor and character of the sliders. If price was the problem, it's too easy to make your own rolls in the morning. Secondly, the BBQ sauce that was added to my sliders wasn't very flavorful, I honestly thought Arby's BBQ sauce would have been better. I think the better option would be to leave a the BBQ sauce on the side and let the customer decide whether they want to use it. Lastly, you can make coleslaw a thousand different ways, and everyone likes their coleslaw differently. I thought the coleslaw was good for southern BBQ. My only gripe, someone put too much salt, it was very salty. Like I try to do at the end of my reviews. What do french fries do when they meet after a long...
Read moreThe grub here is really really good. The grub here is really really good. The cool thing about BBQ is that you could go to 1000 places and they can all be good, yet no two are the same.
I have had their chicken leg, quarters, pork, BBQ sandwich, and the beans and Brunswick stew are top-notch as well.
Their BBQ sauce is really one of the stars of the show if you asked me. it is a good, distinctive Georgia, BBQ sauce. Georgia does not get enough credit for having its own distinctive style of Barbecue. Anyway, their sauce is the frosting on the cake.
The beans are really unique, I count at least three or four different types of beans and they have beef in there too. Of course, adding meat to anything that resembles a vegetable, or a starch like that, you’re on the right track!
Great local...
